Willbros Group Inc. (NYSE: WG) said Nov. 5 that Michael J. Fournier has been appointed CEO, in addition to his current duties as president and COO.

Fournier has also been appointed to the board of directors and will serve on the finance and executive committees.

The Houston company's board of directors has also elected S. Miller Williams as chairman of the board.

John T. McNabb II, current chairman and CEO, will return to his role on the board of directors and on the finance and executive committees. McNabb will complete his term as director. He chose to not stand for re-election at the company's next annual meeting to be held in June 2016, the release said.

Fournier joined Willbros in 2011 and served as president of the Canada segment before being named COO and president in 2014. He has more than 30 years of experience in the engineering and construction service industries, the release said.

Williams, 64, has served on the Willbros board since 2004 and was appointed lead independent director in 2014. From 1978 until 2002, he held numerous executive positions with The Williams Cos. including senior vice president corporate development and general manager international of Williams communications.

McNabb, 71, has served as CEO and executive chairman since 2014. He originally joined the Willbros board in 2006 and was elected non-executive chairman in 2007.

The director and management changes will be effective Dec. 1.
