To the southwest in Section 23-8n-4w will be #1 Blackstone Energy DC. According to IHS Markit, numerous Wilcox tests have been drilled within a mile of Justiss Oil’s proposed #1 Blackstone Energy DC. Earlier tests were abandoned a depths ranging from 3,800 ft to 4,900 ft. Nearby production is in Blue Lick Creek Field along the Grant/Winn parish line. Opened in 1981, wells in the reservoir produce through perforations in Wilcox at 2,600-3,300 ft) and deeper Mooringsport at 9,100-9,600 ft). Justiss Oil is based in Jena, La.
