Thomas F. Getten retired as vice president, general counsel and secretary of W&T Offshore Inc., and was succeeded by Shahid A. Ghauri, according to an April 18 press release.
Tracy Krohn, W&T Offshore's chairman and CEO, said Getten joined the company in 2006.
Ghauri joined the company in March. Previously, he was a partner with Jones Walker, handling oil and gas business and commercial transactions. Prior to that, he was the assistant general counsel for BHP Billiton Petroleum. Prior to joining BHP, he worked in private law practice as an oil and gas lawyer.
He worked as a wireline logging engineer for Schlumberger before earning his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Ghauri also has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, the press release said.
Ghauri is a member of the State Bars of Texas and Pennsylvania, the Houston Producers' Forum, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.
