Description
A 2,700-ft wildcat has been staked by Springfield, Ill.-based Bi-Petro Inc. in northwestern Shelby County, Ill. The #1 Gushing Angus exploratory test in Section 18-13n-2e is targeting Moccasin Springs (Silurian) pay. Nearby drilling is a 1970 venture to the southwest at #1 O. Shearer, a wildcat drilled to 2,545 ft. About one mile to the east are several abandoned tests in Section 17. The deepest test in the section, #1 R.A. McDaniel, was drilled to 2,600 ft in Silurian. To the west, in Christian County, wells in Assumption Consolidated Field produce from several Mississippian pays. The deepest wells in the field yield crude from Devonian at 2,433 ft.
