Resource Energy Can-Am LLC closed its acquisition of assets in the Bakken Shale from Samson Resources Co., the Denver-based company said Nov. 7.

In September, Resource Energy entered into a stalking horse agreement to buy certain Samson's North Dakota and Montana properties in the Bakken for $75 million.

The transaction further expands Resource Energy's operating footprint in the Williston Basin, and complements its existing position in the play, Paul Avret, the company's president and CEO, said in a statement.

With the acquisition, Resource Energy has now accumulated more than 110,000 net acres in the Williston Basin and has proven reserves of about 28 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe). The company also has an interest in more than 350 wells (about 50% operated), and current gross operated production of about 6,500 boe/d.

"We are excited to have closed the Samson transaction, and we look forward to bringing our development and operational expertise as well as our financial discipline to the acquired assets," Avret said.

Resource Energy is a private equity backed company that is actively pursuing opportunities to expand its footprint in the Bakken as well as in other Rockies and Texas unconventional oil plays, according to its website.
