Drilling Activity Summary

Description

A horizontal Niobrara well in Section 4-7S-96W of Garfield County, Colo., initially flowed 16 million cu. ft. of gas per day. The WPX Energy Inc. venture, #701-4 HN1 Williams GM, was tested on an unreported choke size with a flowing pressure of 7,300 psi. The Grand Valley Field producer is in the Piceance Basin and was drilled to 15,420 ft., 10,200 ft. true vertical. It was tested in a 4,600-ft. lateral following 17 stages of fracture stimulation. According to the Tulsa-based company, the well has been choked back to optimize reservoir performance and ensure maximum resource recovery. The new producer is in an area that produces gas from the shallower Williams Fork member of Mesaverde generally between 6,000 and 9,000 ft.
