The #3SS OCS G19925 on Mississippi Canyon Block 127 encountered 142 net ft of Middle Miocene oil pay and was drilled to 16,925 ft in 5,500 ft of water. According to the Houston-based company, results indicate the presence of sand sections deeper than known pay sections in the field. Freeport-McMoRan recently drilled several slightly shallower development tests in King/Horn Mountain (Mississippi Canyon Block 84) Field. The company is currently under way at #6SS OCS G08484 on Block 84.
