Description
Tulsa-based WPX Energy Inc. has received drilling permits for four horizontal exploratory tests targeting the Gallup Sand member of Mancos in San Juan County, N.M. The ventures will be drilled from a common drillpad in Section 17-23n-9w. The #768H Kimbeto Wash Unit will be drilled northwestward to 10,364 ft (4,526 ft true vertical) and will bottom in Section 17. The #769H Kimbeto Wash Unit will be drilled northwestward to 11,470 ft (4,516 ft true vertical) and will bottom in Section 18. The #770H Kimbeto Wash Unit will be drilled southeastward to 10,071 ft (4,473 ft true vertical) and will bottom in Section 21. The #771H Kimbeto Wash Unit will be drilled northwestward to 12,571 ft (4,511 ft true vertical) and will bottom in Section 18. The wells are in the new Kimbeto Wash Federal Exploratory Unit, which comprises approximately 5,279.2 acres of federal and allotted Indian lands in San Juan County. The unitized interval includes Mancos at a depth of 2,873 ft down to the stratigraphic equivalent of the top of Graneros at 4,680 ft.
