1 Cimarex Energy Co., Denver, will drill #1-15 Brew 102 in Section 15-7s-12e in California’s Merced County about 3.3 miles southwest of Atwater. Nearest production is from Zilch sand in Chowchilla Field, about 16.9 miles northwest.

2 Orchard Petroleum Inc., Ventura, Calif., plans two deep wildcats for California’s Fresno County about 12.4 miles south of San Joaquin and 15 miles northwest of Huron, respectively. It will drill #34-20 Five Points in Section 20-17s-16e in search of oil in the Temblor. Turk Anticline Field produces from the McDonald shale about 1.5 miles northwest. The #54-8 Graham will be drilled to a projected depth of 11,000 ft. in Section 8-18s-16e, about 5.2 miles south of San Joaquin production in Turk Anticline Field, reports IHS Inc.

3 Richfield Resources LLC, Salt Lake City, scheduled a remote wildcat in a nonproducing area on the Utah Hingeline approximately 4 miles north of the town of Fountain Green. The #1 Pine Springs is in Section 14-13s-2e in northwestern Sanpete County. The proposed will drill to a projected 10,000 ft. on the Pine Springs Unit about 70 miles north-northeast of Sevier County’s Covenant Field, where Jurassic Nugget reserves are being developed.

4 An Entrada (Jurassic) producer flowed 1.8 million cu. ft. a day at a wildcat in the southern portion of the Uinta Basin about 43 miles northeast of Green River, Utah. San Diego, Calif.-based Royale Energy Inc. tested #20-1 V Canyon in Section 20-15s-21e, southern Uinta County. The flow rate stabilized at 1.04 million cu. ft. of gas a day with a higher tubing pressure. The site is two miles southeast of a multi-zone producer in the Hill Creek North area of Flat Rock Field.

Questar Exploration & Production Co. is also active in the area at its 12,620-ft. #10C-16-15-19 SCS, scheduled to be drilled in Section 16-15s-19e about 32 miles east of Sunnyside, Utah. The wildcat will target Triassic Wingate. The site is about four miles northeast of Flat Rock Field, which has produced about 36.5 billion cu. ft. of gas, 193,514 bbl. of oil and condensate and 363,963 bbl. of water since its discovery in 1963, from pays in Wasatch, Lower Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic.

5 Nadel & Gussman Rockies LLC, Denver, plans a 9,000-ft. wildcat to target Red River in a nonproducing township about 20 miles east of Ekalaka in southeastern Montana. The #24-34 Strangford-Fee is in Section 34-2n-61e in southeastern Fallon County. Nearest Red River production is about seven miles south-southeast in Repeat Field.

6 Whiting Oil & Gas Corp., Denver, confirmed a Red River discovery near the town of Ray, N.D. The #32-2 Solberg was tested flowing 2.1 million cu. ft. of gas and 408 bbl. of condensate a day off the western flank of the Nesson Anticline, about two miles northeast of town in Section 2-156n-97w, eastern Williams County. The 14,440-ft. well was set up to evaluate Mission Canyon, Duperow, Red River, Winnipeg and Deadwood. The test was conducted through a 13/64-in. choke with a tubing pressure of about 2,500 psi. The site is about one mile north-northeast of Whiting’s #12-11 Foss discovery, which flowed gas from four Red River zones of porosity at a combined rate of 4.75 million cu. ft. a day.

7 Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co. LP, a ConocoPhillips unit, has completed two horizontal wildcats on the Nesson Anticline of North Dakota, both as Bakken discoveries. Tests gauged a flow of 418 bbl. of 42.1-gravity oil, 300,000 cu. ft. of gas and 424 bbl. of water a day on completion of #44-8H Dennis in Section 8-147n-96w, about 15 miles northwest of Killdeer in northwestern Dunn County. Nearest Bakken production is 1.5 miles southeast in Cedar Coulee Field. Burlington completed an additional discovery on the western flank of the anticline at #11-21H Dodge-State in Section 21-151n-96w, eastern McKenzie County, about 13 miles northeast of Watford City. The discovery in the Dimmick Lake Field area flowed 409 bbl. of 40.2-gravity oil, 495,000 cu. ft. of gas and 214 bbl. of water a day. Dimmick Lake Field has produced about 2.2 million bbl. of oil, 3.8 billion cu. ft. of gas and 4 million bbl. of water since its discovery in 1957 (primarily from Madison zones, but also from Duperow and Interlake). Johnson Corners Field produces from Bakken about four miles south-southeast.

8 Mountain Petroleum Corp., Denver, plans a 13,500-ft. wildcat to target gas in Lance and Mesaverde in a nonproducing township about 35 miles southeast of Pinedale, Wyo. The #40-28 Serrano Unit is in Section 28-29n-106w in southeastern Sublette County. The southeastern end of Pinedale Field produces from Lance/Mesaverde about six miles northwest. Additional Lance/Mesaverde production is about eight miles west on the eastern flank of Jonah Field, reports IHS Inc.

9 A Vermillion Basin wildcat flowed an estimated 3 million cu. ft. a day from Baxter shale about 40 miles south-southeast of Rock Springs, Wyo. The #5-3 Horseshoe Basin Unit is in Section 3-12n-102w in southern Sweet­water County. Kodiak Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., Denver, holds an 80% interest in the well. The wildcat is in a nonproducing partial township on Horseshoe Basin Federal Exploratory Unit. About five miles west-southwest, Middle Mountain Field produces from Frontier. There, the 14,630-ft. #1 Kenai-Pine Mountain produced 231.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,388 bbl. of condensate between September 1985 and October 2005.

10 KGH Operating Co., Billings, Mont., plans a four-well exploratory program in a nonproducing area of northwestern Nebraska along the Chadron Arch. The remote Sheridan County wildcats include #21-13 Horn in Section 21-30n-46w, a 3,200-ft. test approximately 17 miles southwest of Rushville. The #1-16 Dreyer is in Section 1-31n-45w about four miles southwest of town and is projected to 2,900 ft. The #10-4 Forney is in Section 10-33n-44w about 10 miles north of Rushville. Another mile north, #31-13 Hunter is in Section 31-33n-45w. Objectives of the program were not disclosed, but likely include Paleozoic sediments. Nearest production is about 55 to 65 miles northwest at Leo (Minnelusa) oil pools in South Dakota. Laucomer Field, a Pennsylvanian oil accumulation on the northern flank of the Denver-Julesburg Basin, is 65 to 80 miles southwest.

11 Peak Nebraska Acquisitions LLC, Durango, Colo., scheduled a pair of wildcats about two to three miles north of Trenton in central Hitchcock County, Neb. Its #24-33 McCollam is in Section 24-3n-33w and is scheduled to drill to Precambrian at 4,500 ft. about a mile southeast of Kema Field, a Cambridge Arch producer completed in 1981. The #13-13 Thomas pumped 10 bbl. a day and produced 3,900 bbl. of oil before it was abandoned in 1991. The second test is slated to be drilled 1.5 miles northwest in Section 14-3n-33w. The #14-32 Sramek is projected to a depth of 4,200 ft. Nearest current Lansing-Kansas City production is about a mile northeast of the latter well and 1.4 miles north of the former in Pawnee Field. Since its discovery in 1987, this field has produced about 166,000 bbl. of oil.

12 GMT Exploration Co. LLC, Denver, scheduled a pair of Denver-Julesburg Basin wildcats about 16 miles southwest of Akron in northeastern Colorado. The Washington County ventures are #24-13 Alt in Section 13-1s-54w and #43-24 Hendrich in Section 24-1s 54w. Both wells are projected to reach 5,100 ft. to evaluate D and J sands. Nearest production to the first well is 2.5 miles north in Jitter Field, which recovered 181,000 bbl. of oil and 7,000 bbl. of water during its 31 years on line. The second well lies three miles northeast of the closest previous production in Ward Field. There, #1 Ward Ranch produced 32,000 bbl. of oil between 1966 and 1970, reports IHS Inc.

13 OWTS (Oil & Water Tracking Solutions) Services Ltd., Nicosia, Cypress, scheduled a remote wildcat in a nonproducing township about six miles north of Trinidad in southern Colorado. The #8-33-1 Winters is in Section 8-32s-63w in Las Animas County. The well is projected to reach a depth of 4,750 ft. to evaluate Cretaceous Niobrara and Dakota and Permian Glorieta sand. Purgatoire River/Spanish Peak Field is about 10 miles west. Two small, unnamed fields producing primarily from Pierre, Niobrara, Carlile and Graneros are seven to nine miles northwest. The only previous drilling in the township is a 2,960-ft. dry hole completed four miles southeast in 1930.
