The #1 SDU-Warren, in Section 33-4n-4e, northeastern Marion County, is currently producing 2,000 bbl. of oil per day, says IHS Energy. The well is completed in a 2,000-ft. lateral drilled in the Devonian Geneva at a true vertical depth of 3,900 ft. Deep Rock's well is 0.75-mile southwest of the nearest Geneva producer on the southern flank of Miletus Field. The company plans a second horizontal test at the #1 SDU-Carter, Section 5-3n-4e. The bottomhole location of that well is about a half-mile from that of the new producer. 5 George N. Mitchell Production Co., Carmi, Ill., plans to offset a recent discovery in Washington County, Ill. Mitchell's #1 Herbert & Ruth Lange well, Section 24-2s-5w, produced 2,518 bbl. of oil in January, its first month on production. No other details have been released. Now the operator has staked the #2 Lange and #3 Lange, northeast and east offsets, in the same section. The wells are projected to 2,600 ft. in the Silurian. 6 The #1 Crawford is a 2,800-ft. wildcat venture staked in Posey County, Ind. Operator Map Oil Co. of Mt. Carmel, Ill., will test Pennsylvanian and Mississippian formations through Aux Vases at the site, which is a mile southwest of a two-well field that produces from Mississippian Waltersburg at 2,050 ft. 7 Equitable Production Co., Charleston, flowed 2.2 million cu. ft. of gas per day from a new Boone County, W.Va., producer. The #506025 Morrison, Sherman district, Williams Mountain quad, tested the flow from pay ranging between 2,664-5,179 ft. the 5,200-ft. well is in an area of Mississippian Big Lime and Weir gas production. In nearby Kanawha County, Columbia Natural Resources Inc. completed an Oriskany producer in an unnamed field. The #824239 Lawson, Malden district, Charleston East quad, was drilled to a total depth of 6,486 ft. and is producing from an open-hole interval at 6,378-6,432 ft. in the Tuscarora. 8 A 2,800-ft. Mississippian McClosky test has been staked in Webster County, Ky., says IHS Energy. The #1 Madge Tapp et al., 19-N-22, is about two miles southeast of production at Poole Consolidated Field. Har-Ken Oil, based in Owensboro, is the operator. 9 Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tengasco Inc. plans to drill a remote wildcat in Cocke County, Tenn. The #1 Jerry Griffen, Section 8-5s-76e, is projected to a depth of about 5,000 ft. Few wells have been drilled in the area, and the wildcat will be the first test in 5s-76e. Tengasco's Swan Creek Field, in Hancock County, is about 40 miles to the northwest. 10 Northwestern Alabama's Franklin County is the site of another shallow wildcat in an ongoing program being carried out by Griffen Resources, a Hamilton-based independent. The #28-10 Webber-Massey, Section 28-8s-15w, is projected to 1,400 ft. The well is a mile northeast of Bluegut Creek Field, which produces from the shallow Paleozoic. 11 Laurel, Miss.-based S. Lavon Evans Jr. Operating Co. Inc. has permitted a Paleozoic test at Southeast Watson Creek Field in Lamar County, Ala. The #1 Graham 12-5, Section 12-15s-15w, is projected to a depth of 3,100 ft. In neighboring Fayette County, Jabsco Oil Operating, Tuscaloosa, is testing a reentry at the #1 Baccus 13-16. That well, originally drilled to 2,482 ft., was a Carter Sand producer and part of Heartline Field. Jabsco has perforated the Carter between 2,399-2,407 ft., but no additional details have been released, reports the Southeastern Oil Review. 12 Medallian Exploration, Midvale, Utah, continues to have success in its drilling efforts in the Paleozoic play in Pickens County, Ala. The operator has run production casing and is waiting on a completion rig at its #1 Carpenter 9-1, Section 9-19s-15w. That well was drilled to a total depth of 6,250 ft., says the Southeastern Oil Review, and is in the same section as Medallion's recent #1 Walter O'Briant 9-11 discovery. The #1 O'Briant and #10-10 Gladys Dunn, in Section 10-19s-15w, were both successful reentries of old dry holes.
