Gateway Resources LLC, Wichita, Kan., will drill the 3,550-ft. #1-3 Alexander-Thomas Unit wildcat in Section 3-8s-21w about 2.5 miles northeast of Bogue in eastern Graham County, Kan. The primary objectives are Lansing-Kansas City and Arbuckle. The Kenyon Northeast Field opener, an isolated Central Kansas Uplift discovery, is 0.75 mile north-northwest. Completed in 2005, #1 Stehno Farms now has a total production of 1,300 bbl.

Ritchie Exploration Inc., Wichita, Kan., plans a 5,900-ft. wildcat south of Ford in a lightly drilled nonproducing township in Kansas' Ford County. The #1 Lamb-Lance is in Section 8-28s-22w and will primarily target Mississippian zones to Arbuckle. The site is over three miles southeast of two-well Steel Field, which was confirmed in 1985. There, #1-36 Hager produced 752 million cu. ft. of gas through perforations in Mississippian at 5,050-54 ft., and was shut-in last October. The closest previous test is 1.5 miles southwest where a 5,926-ft. dry hole was drilled and plugged in 1981 with no reported shows or tests.

Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, staked #1-20H Caldwell Farms in a lightly drilled nonproducing Arkoma Basin township about 4.5 miles southeast of Rose Bud, Ark. The primary objective for the 6,129-ft. wildcat in Section 20-8n-9w, White County, is to test gas potential in Mississippian Moorefield shale. Two confirmed horizontal Moorefield producers are about five miles west. One of these, #1-21H Plant Trust, was initially tested flowing 1.22 million cu. ft. of gas a day, reports IHS Inc.

Seeco Inc., a unit of Southwestern Energy, Houston, released completion details on its #1-33 USA, drilled last year about six miles southeast of Subiaco, Ark., in Logan County. The well was tested on a 24/64-in. choke flowing 3.15 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Middle Atoka with a flowing tubing pressure of 915 psi. A shallower interval was tested in Middle Alma that yielded a flow of 560,000 cu. ft. of gas a day, gauged on a 64/64-in. choke with a flowing tubing pressure of 25 psi. The discovery is 1.75 miles southeast of Seeco's Rich Mountain Field.

Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, completed a Siluro-Devonian discovery in a Mississippian-producing region of Anadarko Basin's northern shelf three miles north and slightly west of Alva, Okla. Its #1-4 Mackey is in Section 4-27n-14w in northeastern Woods County. The well flowed 475 bbl. of oil and 567,000 cu. ft. of gas a day with no water during tests of Hunton perforated at 5,714-26 ft. The discovery is offset by two Mississippian producers southeast and north in Alva North Field.

Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, made a discovery with its #1-11 Steffes in Oklahoma's western Washita County. The site is in Section 11-10n-20w about six miles southeast of Elk City. The Pennsylvanian Atoka discovery initially flowed 1.37 million cu. ft. of gas, 26 bbl. of condensate and 20 bbl. of water a day. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 966 psi on an 11/64-in. choke. Nearest production is in northern Elk City Field about two miles away. Completed in 1984, the 17,500-ft. #2 Harrison produced 499 million cu. ft. of gas and 5,000 bbl. of condensate from the Atoka at 14,558-76 and 14,592 to 14,604 ft. Elk City Field produced 1.28 trillion cu. ft. of gas and 73.8 million bbl. of liquids since its discovery in 1947.

Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, reported two discoveries in southeastern New Mexico's Lea County. It completed a Wolfcamp discovery less than 10 miles east of Jal. The #1 Dinwiddie 23 Federal was tested flowing 1.7 million cu. ft. of gas and 80 bbl. of 48-gravity oil a day from commingled perforations in Upper and Lower Wolfcamp at 12,850 to 12,998 ft. and 13,056-97 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged on an 18/64-in. choke at 605 psi. The site is over two miles south-southeast of one-well Humphreys Hill Field, a Morrow gas pool opened in 1981. There, #1 Reno Com produced 760.1 million cu. ft. of gas, 1,273 bbl. of condensate and 9,532 bbl. of water from its opening through 1988.

Another operator, Snyder, Texas-based Patterson Petroleum, tested its #2 Cooper 24 Federal Com about 25 miles west of Lovington. The well was tested flowing 150 bbl. of 41-gravity oil and 121,000 cu. ft. of gas a day from acidized perforations in Cisco at 11,551 to 11,610 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged on a 10/64-in. choke at 740 psi. The discovery is near Grayburg-San Andres oil production in Maljamar Field. Patterson has been active in this vicinity since 2001, producing oil and gas from the Paddock, Wolfcamp and Morrow.

Samson Lone Star LLC, Tulsa, plans a 17,000-ft. wildcat in southeastern Hemphill County (RRC 10), Texas, about seven miles west-northwest of Reydon, Okla.
