Bach Oil Production Inc., Alma, Neb., tested its #1 Lowrey Unit in western Rooks County, Kansas, for 175 bbl. of oil a day. The wildcat well is in Section 35-7s-20w on the Central Kansas Uplift. The 3,436-ft. well produced from perforations in three undisclosed formations from 3,198 to 3,200 ft., 3,242-46 ft. and from 3,326 to 3,330 ft. The closest production comes from two fields a mile away. Cocinera Field lies west-northwest. Bach, the operator, tested the closest well in that field at 120 bbl. of oil a day from three Lansing-Kansas City intervals from 3,162 to 3,354 ft. The company discovered Cocinera Northeast north of its new producer with a well that tested 90 bbl. of oil a day, according to IHS Inc.

A discovery by Russell Oil Inc., Plainfield, Ill., tested 127 bbl. of oil a day with no water from Lansing-Kansas City from 4,242-47 ft. and from Marmaton from 4,370-74 ft. after a light acid wash in the Marmaton. The #1-19 Zelda Ferguson B in Section 19-10s-30w was drilled to 4,650 ft. in Mississippian about five miles northwest of Grinell in southwestern Sheridan County, Kan. The well was designated as the opener for Zelda Field. The new field is off the northeastern flank of Triangle Field, a 16-well field that produces from Lansing-Kansas City and Marmaton. It has produced 1.1 million bbl. of oil since 1983.

The Seeco Inc. unit of Southwestern Energy Co., Houston, will drill an 8,250-ft. Borum test more than three miles south of Subiaco, Ark. It has asked Arkansas authorities for permission to drill #1-27 (no lease name was specified) on its Midway prospect in Section 27-7n-25w in the center of a five-mile space between Rich Mountain Field northeast and an unnamed single-well field southwest, both discovered by Seeco in the Logan County segment of the Arkoma Basin. The opener for Rich Mountain Field tested 1.3 million cu. ft. of gas a day through four fractured Upper Borum zones between 4,754 and 5,050 ft. The company reentered that well and added perforations to the Basham between 3,080 and 3,100 ft. The well flowed a commingled 429,000 cu. ft. of gas a day. The unnamed discovery southwest tested 688,000 cu. ft. of gas a day through an 8/64-in. choke with 1,925 psi of flowing tubing pressure.

Littleton, Colo.-based Potoco LLC opened a new producing area between five and seven miles southeast of Mansfield in northern Scott County, Ark. According to IHS Inc., the company has completed exploratory drilling in sections 14, 15 and 24-4n-30w and found a reservoir with similar characteristic to those of Mansfield Field two to 2.5 miles north. It has asked the Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission to extend Mansfield Field to include its wells. It wants to include sections 9 through 16 and parts of Section 24 in Township 4n-30w and sections 7, 18, 19 and 30 in Township 4n-29w in the expanded area. Mansfield Field has produced 74.8 billion cu. ft. of gas, mostly from Hartfold and Mansfield since 1902, and it produced 1.23 billion cu. ft. of gas last November.

B&W Operating LLC, Oklahoma City, locked in a discovery with its #1-4 B&W Magpie wildcat about 5.5 miles northeast of the town of Reydon in Oklahoma's Anadarko Basin. The well in Section 4-14n-25w in western Roger Mills County tested 1.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 240 bbl. of water a day from Springer perforations between 16,348-54 ft. through an 8/64-in. choke with 8,100 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The closest production is almost two miles north where Hamburg Field produces from shallower Morrow and Cleveland zones.

Two exploratory tests in Washita County, Okla., resulted in discoveries for JMA Energy Co. LLC, Oklahoma City. The #1-7 Thomas in Section 7-9n-18w is producing into the sales line at approximately 5 million cu. ft. of gas with 250 bbl. of condensate from Atoka at a depth shallower than 15,675 ft. A north offset to that well, #1-6 West Trust in Section 6, tested 972,000 cu. ft. of gas, 41 bbl. of condensate and two bbl. of water a day, also from fractured Atoka. The closest Atoka producer is in the now-abandoned Burns Flat Field 2.5 miles northeast.

Cimarex Energy Co., Denver, completed a workover at an Atoka gas discovery in Eddy County, N.M. The #1 Crow Flats 16 State Com, in Section 16-16s-28e, tested 913,000 cu. ft. of gas, seven bbl. of condensate and seven bbl. of water a day from fractured and acidized perforations between 9,104-19 ft. It tested the well on a 30/64-in. choke with 220 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The company deepened the well to 13,895 ft. before plugging back to 9,143 ft. for completion. The well originally was abandoned in 1974.

Mack Energy Corp., Artesia, N.M., received a permit for its second wildcat about eight miles west-southwest of Carlsbad in central Eddy County, N.M. The #1 Joker State Com apparently will evaluate Morrow for oil to 11,500 ft. to Section 4-23s-25e. The first well in the series is less than a half-mile south-southwest where it production-tested #1 Robin Federal in Section 9. It cased that well at 11,300 ft. and tested acidized Strawn perforations between 9,029-64 ft. but hasn't released figures.

Texas issued a permit to AOG Inc., Norman, Okla., as it continued its wildcat campaign in the Texas Panhandle. The #1 NWM in League 314, State Capitol Lands (A. Taylor) Survey, A-364, is scheduled to Precambrian basement at 10,000 ft. about 11 miles north-northeast of Vega in eastern Oldham County (RRC 10). The Dalhart Basin well is about a mile from the discovery wells in two abandoned fields. The Alamosa East Field opener tested at 612 bbl. of oil and 76,000 cu. ft. of gas a day from Missouri from 7,122-43 ft. in 1957, according to IHS Inc. The #1 Whose Mistake opener for Lambert Twell Field southwest was a redrill of a 25-year-old dry hole that pumped 53 bbl. of oil and 33 bbl. of water a day from Missouri Granite Wash.

Gunn Oil Co., Wichita Falls, Texas, discovered oil and gas at a wildcat southwest of the town of Spur in southwestern Dickens County, Texas (RRC 8A). The #1 Swenson Unit initial produced 114 bbl. of oil and 7,600 cu. ft. of gas on pump from Tannehill perforations between 4,898 and 4,901 ft. 11 Midland, Texas-based Sharp Image Energy Inc. will drill its #2 Clairemont South 47A wildcat about 15 miles southwest of Jayton in southwestern Kent County, Texas (RRC 8A). The well in Section 47, Block G, W&NW RR Co. Survey, A-357, will drill to 9,000 ft., possibly with a primary objective in Pennsylvanian Mays at about 6,900 ft. The closest production comes from #4 Mays Trust B well more than a mile southwest in Clairemont Southwest Field. That well showed an initial potential of 55 bbl. of oil and 10,000 cu. ft. of gas from Mays in 1990.

Marathon Oil Co., Houston, will evaluate Barnett shale with a horizontal wildcat more than four miles south of Hico in northern Hamilton County, Texas (RRC 7B). The company will drill to 5,000 ft. at its #1H Lake Davis in Charles B. Howard Survey, A-377. It will place the bottomhole location about 3,000 ft. east-northeast of the surface location in the same survey. This well is remote for a Barnett test. The closest recovery from the shale is in Newark East Field more than 12 miles northwest in Erath County, reports IHS Inc. Marathon drilled several horizontal Barnett tests about eight miles southeast of the new wildcat but hasn't released test details.

A Cross Cut formation discovery rewarded Enrich Oil Corp., Abilene, Texas, as it drilled #1 Jimmie Herring on the Bend Arch about five miles west-northwest of Ballinger in southern Runnels County, Texas (RRC 7C). The 3,906-ft. well in Section 434, Juliana Garza Survey, A-202, tested 99 bbl. of oil and 84,000 ft. of gas. Tests were run from perforations between 3,792 and 3,804 ft. on a 10/64-in. choke with 380 psi of flowing tubing pressure. Enrich also filed a permit for #2 Jimmie Herring about 1,200 ft. south-southwest.

Bulldog Operating Co., Artesia, N.M., claimed a discovery when its #1 Armstrong State tested at nearly 2.5 million cu. ft. of gas and five bbl. of water a day from acidized Silurian perforations between 14,006-44 ft. north-northwest of Toyah, Texas, in western Reeves County (RRC 8). The wildcat in Section 3, Block 59, PSL Survey, A-2778, tested through an 8/64-in. choke with 2,900 psi of flowing tubing pressure. Bulldog completed a Silurian discovery in Pamela Field a half-mile west last spring that flowed 3.2 million cu. ft. of gas a day.

A wildcat apparently designed to evaluate zones through Ellenburger to 11,000 ft. was permitted by MLC Operating LP about seven miles south-southeast of Bakersfield in eastern Pecos County, Texas (RRC 8). The #0163 Sherbino Heirs in Section 63, Block C4, GC&SF RR Co. Survey, A-2772, is 2.25 miles southwest of shallow wells in Priest & Beavers West Field. The only other well in that field is a 10,296-ft. Wolfcamp producer, #1 J.W. Owens, that tested in the mid-1960s pumping 122 bbl. of oil a day from between 6,838-54 ft. The well found the top of the Ellenburger at 9,942 ft.

Newfield Exploration Co., Houston, plans an apparent horizontal test to Ellenburger about 15 miles southwest of Rocksprings in Edwards County, Texas (RRC 1). The proposed bottomhole location for #7703H Davis is southeast of the surface location, all in Section 77, Block 3, GWT&R RR Co. Survey, A-1211. Newfield completed the closest producer. That was #7701 Davis, a half-mile east in Section 77. It flowed 1.04 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Ellenburger from 7,160 to 7,260 ft. as a part of Geronimo Creek Field. Through January this year that September 2005 well produced a cumulative 306.2 million cu. ft. of gas and 937 bbl. of water.
