1 Resources Buffalo Common LLC, Stockton, Kan., will drill to 4,000 ft. to test Lansing-Kansas City at a wildcat in southwestern Phillips County, Kan. The #1 Wilkinson is in Section 29-5s-19w about six miles southeast of Logan and 2.5 miles north-northwest of Edgar Field. That field opened in 1968 with a low-volume producer in Lansing-Kansas City. Through November last year, the 12-well field produced 232,000 bbl. of oil. The proposed wildcat is slightly more than three miles southeast of Hansen Field, which has produced 9.26 million bbl. of oil from 60 wells drilled to Lansing-Kansas City, Maraton, basal Pennsylvanian conglomerate and Arbuckle.



2 A discovery rewarded Mid-Continent Energy Corp., Wichita, Kan., at its #1 Derly wildcat in southern Edwards County, Kan., in Section 23-26s-18w about 12 miles southeast of Kinsley, Kan., on the eastern Hugoton Embayment. The well produced an average 149 bbl. of oil a day in November for a total 4,469 bbl. during that month. It went to 4,800 ft. more than a half-mile northwest of Bordewick East Field's discovery well. There, #1 Bordewick showed an initial potential of 5.5 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Wabaunsee between 3,216-36 ft. and produced a total 1.63 billion cu. ft. of gas and 114 bbl. of oil from Wabaunsee and Mississippian in 14 years.



3 A Fayetteville shale test resulted in a Pennsylvanian gas discovery as Seeco Inc., a unit of Southwestern Energy, Houston, drilled its #1-32 Arklan 9-11 in Section 32-9n-11w more than a mile east of Quitman in Cleburne County, Ark. Although it didn't give measured flows, Seeco said the well showed a substantial flow of gas from a northwest-trending Middle Hale channel sand between 3,180 and 3,223 ft. The well is within 0.75-mile of two inactive wells that made up Quitman Field and more than a mile east of the closest Fayetteville production in New Quitman Field, according to IHS Inc. The #1 R.A. Evans, opener for the Pennsylvanian field, flowed 5 million cu. ft. of gas a day from three McGuire zones from 1,956-88 ft. It was abandoned after producing 49 million cu. ft. of gas.



4 Weiser-Brown Operating Co., Magnolia, Ark., plans a wildcat to test Pennsylvanian Hale about 1.5 miles east of Atkins in southeastern Pope County, Ark. The #1 Crawford, in Section 1-7n-18w, will go to 8,700 ft. about 1.5 miles south-southwest of the closest well in Oak Grove Field. That well is one of only eight successful tests in the township. In that field, #3-1 Shackleford tested for 1.14 million cu. ft. of gas a day from three zones in Dunn A from 5,000-84 ft. The field has produced 28.6 billion cu. ft. of gas from 43 Pennsylvanian wells since 1975.



5 A horizontal wildcat by Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, will test Des Moines Granite Wash 1.5 miles east of Foss in northern Washita County, Okla. The company will drill #1-6H Curtis to a measured depth of 16,527 ft. (12,363 ft. true vertical depth) northward in Section 6-11n-18w. The proposed well is three miles west-northwest of Chesapeake's #2-10H Walton, the first horizontal producer drilled in the county. It hasn't released completion details on that well. The well is on the northeastern edge of Granite Wash and Morrow production in Breathwaite Field. Chesapeake already has staked an east offset to its proposed well at #1-11H Musick Farms.



6 Oil came from three Ordovician zones in #1-32 Graves discovery drilled by Crusader Energy II LLC, Oklahoma City, on the Pauls Valley Uplift in southern Garvin County, Okla. The well is in Section 32-2n-1e, about four miles southwest of the town of Wynnewood. The wildcat tested for 30 bbl. of oil with 221 bbl. of water a day during swabbing operations from McLish between 5,356-64 ft. The operator also swabbed the Tulip Creek (Third Bromide) for another 47 bbl. of oil and two bbl. of water a day; 143 bbl. of oil and 120 bbl. of water a day flowed naturally from Second Bromide. Crusader ran tests on a 23/64-in. choke with 135 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The company received permission to commingle production from the Bromide intervals.



7 David H. Arrington Oil & Gas Inc., Midland, Texas, plans several remote horizontal wildcat wells to test Wolfcamp in southern Chaves County, N.M. The company will drill #1H and #2H Flashaboo Bobo Com in Section 13-15s-24e to 8,480 ft. and 8,770 ft., respectively, about 10 miles west of Lake Arthur, N.M. It also plans to drill #1H Longshank Bobo to 8,490 ft. in adjacent Section 11 northwest and #1H Hornburg State Com to 8,340 ft. southeast in Section 24. The closest production to the Flashaboo Bobo wells lies about three miles east in Lake Arthur Field. There, #1 Forego 1525-16B tested for 1.3 million cu. ft. of gas and 600 bbl. of water a day from Wolfcamp last November after acid and fracture stimulation.



8 Another wildcat will follow a New Mexico wildcat drilled by Chesapeake Operating Inc. in an area some 10 miles east of Jal in Lea County, N.M. The #1 Dinwiddie 24 will evaluate the Morrow for gas to 15,800 ft. in Section 24-25s-35e. That Delaware Basin well is about a mile east of the company's #1 Dinwiddie 23 Federal in Section 23, also permitted to Morrow at 15,800 ft.



9 A discovery 20 miles northwest of Miami in Roberts County, Texas, (RRC 10) flowed at an initial rate of 6.11 million cu. ft. of gas, 309 bbl. of condensate and 12 bbl. of water a day from Upper Morrow, for Fort Worth, Texas-based Range Production Co. The #1222 Payne Trust in Section 222, Block 42, H&TC Survey, A-944, tested through a 48/64-in. choke from fractured Upper Morrow between 8,793 and 8,833 ft. with 1,438 psi of flowing tubing pressure. According to IHS Inc., the well was producing to sales at a rate of 9.6 million cu. ft. of gas equivalent. The discovery is 1.25 miles west of the nearest producer in Payne Ranch Field, now abandoned.



10 Latigo Petroleum Texas LP, Tulsa, Okla., will drill a 12,500-ft. wildcat 17 miles southeast of Canadian in Hemphill County, Texas (RRC 10). The #1 Hanson, in Section 40, Block 41, H&TC Survey, A-1308, will test Douglas, Tonkawa and Granite Wash in the western Anadarko Basin. The company completed #1 Anderson Ranch 61 about two miles northwest at 11,500 ft. flowing 404,000 cu. ft. of gas, 11 bbl. of condensate and 23 bbl. of water a day from the Gem-Hemphill Des Moines Granite Wash pool.



11 A discovery resulted from a PetroGlobe Inc., Calgary, wildcat, flowing 623,000 cu. ft. of gas and 150 bbl. of condensate a day from an openhole Pennsylvanian shale interval in southeastern Floyd County, Texas (RRC 8A). The #1-77 McIntosh produced through a 9/64-in. choke with 1,814 psi of flowing tubing pressure from a section from 8,981 to 9,900 ft. The well is about 10 miles east of Floydada in Section 77, Block 1, AB&M Survey, A-44, in the Palo Duro Basin. The well also found gas shows in Granite Wash.



12 Wichita Falls, Texas-based Gunn Oil Co. plans #1 Lake Unit to 5,500 ft. in Section 224, Block 1, H&GN RR Co. Survey, A-740, in southwestern Dickens County, Texas (RRC 8A). It will drill the wildcat within the town limits of Spur and 1.33 miles southeast of #1 Watson, the nearest previous producer in Dockum Creek Field. That Tannehill discovery produced 8,351 bbl. of oil and 37,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas between 1991 and mid-1994.



13 Jerry Hess Operating Co., Muenster, Texas, will drill a second wildcat in southwestern Haskell County, Texas (RRC 7B). The #2 Clarence Teicelman is more than 0.33-mile north of the Jones County line and less than four miles west of Stamford in Section 26, BBB&C RR Co. Survey, A-996. Jerry Hess will drill the well to 2,999 ft. on the Bend Arch. The company is waiting on completion tools at its #1 Clarence Teicelman less than a quarter-mile east.



14 A horizontal wildcat in Isaac Ryan Survey, A-379, in southwestern Palo Pinto County, Texas, (RRC 7B) reached total depth of approximately 7,500 ft. in Isaac Ryan Survey, A-413, in northern Eastland County. Casing was set in Barnett shale at 6,400 ft. by CDX Gas LLC, Dallas, at its #5H Pilot, more than two miles south of the town of Strawn. The company also drilled #1H Pilot to 5,779 ft. in Hiram Peace Survey, A-401, Eastland County, and is awaiting completion tools. In the same survey, #4H Pilot was drilled to an unreported depth and #2 Pilot reached 3,741 ft. The company also drilled #3H Pilot to 7,000 ft. in the I. Ryan Survey, A-413. The closest Barnett production to the cluster of wildcats is more than five miles northeast, where #5 R.L. Graham, in Abner Ashworth Survey, A-1, tested for 285,000 cu. ft. of gas a day.



15 Petro-Hunt LLC, Dallas, tested its #1 Melissa Taylor State 27 Barnett shale gas discovery for 270,000 cu. ft. of gas a day through fracture-stimulated perforations from 13,344-60 ft. It tested the northeastern Culberson County, Texas, (RRC 8) well through a 48/64-in. choke with 75 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The well is in Section 27, Block 109, PSL Survey, A-4922, approximately 40 miles northwest of Toyah. The nearest Barnett test is less than seven miles north-northeast. There, #701 Dela Minerals 3 State was tested from fractured perforations from 12,678 and 12,825 ft., but test figures weren't reported.



16 A second wildcat to Ellenburger will occupy Pogo Producing Co., Houston, as it drills #1 University 14-1 in northwestern Crockett County, Texas, (RRC 7C) to 8,500 ft. in Section 1, Block 14, University Lands Survey, about 12 miles northeast of Rankin. The company drilled a wildcat a mile east in Section 1, Block TM, T.J. Murphy Survey, A-5541, apparently to Ellenburger at 8,600 ft., but it was set to evaluate Wolfcamp and Pennsylvanian Bend on the way down. The company set pipe to total depth on that well, IHS Inc. reports.
