1 Arena Resources Inc., Tulsa, Okla., permitted a remote wildcat 8.5 miles south-southeast of Syracuse in Hamilton County, Kan. It plans to drill #1-28 Blackwell to Mississippian at 5,650 ft. in Section 28-25s-40w. The apparent target is Morrow sand, but there has never been any Mississippian production in the county. The nearest producer from pre-Permian is eight miles west of the Gould Field discovery well, #1-Gould, which tested for 68 bbl. of oil a day from Morrow perforations between 5,120-34 ft. It produced a total 104,000 bbl. of oil, IHS Inc. reports.

2 A Nemaha Uplift wildcat will evaluate Bartlesville Sand to 2,700 ft. for Mike Larcom of Eureka, Kan. The #1 Larcom Oil Co. Inc. is in Section 5-26s-8e, about 15 miles east of El Dorado in eastern Butler County. The nearest production comes from the closest producer in Blankenship Field two miles southeast. The field is one of several pools in the northeast-southwest Sallyards Trend. Blankenship Field has produced 2.19 million bbl. of oil from Bartlesville at about 2,450 ft. and Mississippian at 2,800 ft. since the 1920s and produced 315 bbl. of oil last June.

The wildcat is in Section 18-16s-27e more than five miles southeast of the town of Lake Arthur. The well is about 0.67-mile south of Ameristate's #1 Mental Floss 7 Federal. That well was still in testing at press time.

9 The #1011 Parker wildcat will drill to 8,900 ft. with Mississippian as a primary objective at 8,300 ft. for DBP Exploration Inc., Pampa, Texas. The site is in northern Ochiltree County, Texas, (RRC 10) a half-mile south of the Oklahoma border and six miles north of Perryton, Texas, reports IHS Inc. The well, in Section 11, Block Z, J.G. Grogan Survey, A-1302, is more than two miles northwest of the nearest former Mississippian producer in Twitchell Field. There, #1-44 Selby-A tested for 1.1 million cu. ft. of gas a day, but produced only 19 million cu. ft. of gas and 900 bbl. of oil in 15 months before it was recompleted in shallower Marmaton.
