1 Wichita, Kan.-based Great Plains Energy Corp. drilled a wildcat in a previously nonproducing township about 9 miles north-northwest of the town of Selden in southwestern Decatur County in northwestern Kansas. The #1 Wasson Brothers Farms, located in Section 36-4s-30w, was drilled to a total depth of 4,320 ft. The well was completed pumping in excess of 100 bbl. of oil per day from an undisclosed interval in the Lansing-Kansas City. The new pool is 3 miles west-northwest of inactive one-well Lund Field. The #1 Porsch had an ultimate recovery of 9,400 bbl. of oil during 4 years online. 2 Pintail Petroleum Ltd., based in Wichita, Kan., staked two 4,150-ft. wildcats approximately 10 to 11 miles southwest of the town of Ellis in Trego County, Kan. The #1-29 Schmidt "RP," located in Section 29-14s-21w, is 1.5 miles southwest of the closest previous producers in Sunny Slope Field, according to IHS Energy. Some 4.5 miles to the northwest is the second new wildcat, the #1-11 Lundvall Raynesford Unit, located in Section 11-14s-22w. It's more than three-quarters of a mile southwest of seven-well-pool Cedar View Field. The primary objective of both wildcats is the Cherokee sand. 3 Chesapeake Operating Inc., based in Oklahoma City, permitted two wildcats in lightly drilled areas in northern Arkansas, one in Jackson County, just 3 miles east-northeast of the town of Bradford. The #1-35 Robinson, located in Section 35-10n-4w, is planned to reach a total depth of 2,500 ft. to evaluate the Fayetteville shale. The nearest previous well is 2 miles east-northeast. The #1 Doggett was a 3,460-ft. dry hole that was deepened to 5,007 ft. No shows were reported on either attempt at the well. 4 The Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission will hear several cases filed by Seeco Inc., a unit of Houston-based Southwestern Energy. The cases involved new wildcats on the Arkansas salient of the Arkoma Basin. One of the cases is an order covering Section 16 in 10n-7w, a nonproducing township 6 miles northeast of Pangburn in White County. The location is 8 miles north of Clay Field. The nearest confirmed producer in the Fayetteville Shale is in Quitman Field about 25 miles to the southwest. According to IHS Energy, Seeco also applied for integration of several units in Van Buren, Conway and Cleburne counties. 5 Oklahoma City-based GHK Co. LLC staked an exploratory test to add to its deep Anadarko Basin series. The #1-19 Dale, located in Section 19-14n-24w in Roger Mills County, about 7.5 miles northwest of Cheyenne, Okla., is set to reach a total depth of 16,900 ft. to evaluate Pennsylvanian formations ranging from the Douglas to the Springer. The #2-20 Washita River is located about a mile east. It initially flowed at a daily rate of 3.14 million cu. ft. of gas with 22 bbl. of water through perforations between 16,328-54 ft. in the Springer, in a side-tracked hole. 6 Houston-based Newfield Exploration staked a horizontal wildcat targeting Woodford in southeastern Oklahoma's portion of the Arkoma Basin. The #1H-28 Wilson, located in Section 28-2n-11e in eastern Coal County, is set to reach 14,645 ft. The well is 2 miles northwest of the #34-A Crow, a 10,200-ft. well that has produced 155 million cu. ft. of gas. Production is attributed to Coalgate Northeast Field about 1 or 2 miles further south-southwest. 7 Yates Petroleum Corp., based in Artesia, N.M., staked a wildcat 18 miles south of Causey, N.M., in southeastern Roosevelt County. The #1 Walker "BHQ" Federal, located in Section 25-8s-37e, is set to reach 9,800 ft. and will apparently target oil in the Pennsylvanian. The closest producer is the #1 Bernice M. Green, located a third of a mile to the southeast. It has yielded a cumulative 32,483 bbl. of crude. 8 Yates Petroleum has also staked a wildcat 5 miles east of Hagerman, N.M., in southeastern Chaves County. The #1 Hackey Sack "BHV" Federal Com is set to target the Mississippian at 8,005 ft. The closest previous producer is half a mile north-northeast. The #1 Government "E" had some oil and gas recovery from cores taken between 1,537 and 1,783 ft. The well was abandoned in 1962 at 2,430 ft. 9 Tulsa, Okla.-based Latigo Petroleum Texas LP staked a southwestern Ochiltree County (RRC 10) wildcat 11 miles east-southeast of Spearman in the Texas Panhandle. The #3 Carrie, located in Section 24, Block 44, Garnett Anderson Survey, A-116, is set to target formations through the Ellenburger and go to 10,500 ft. Two and a half miles northwest are St. Louis gas producers at around 8,400 ft. in Daniel Field. The #1 Daniel-A has recovered 1.6 billion cu. ft. of gas, 7,700 bbl. of oil and 10,000 bbl. of water, with Morrow production attributed to Hansford Field and Atoka production to Daniel Field. 10 ConocoPhillips has drilled a wildcat in the Texas Panhandle 14 miles northwest of Gruver. The #1 Ruby "A," located in Section 91, Block 2, GH&H Survey, A-46, in northwestern Hansford County (RRC 10), was completed flowing 1.6 million cu. ft. of gas and 10 bbl. of 67-gravity condensate daily, with no water, from the Morrow sand through untreated perforations between 6,678-88 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 783 psi. The 6,900-ft. well is about 1.5 miles north-northwest of the nearest activity. The #1-89 Stavlo has recovered 375 million cu. ft. of gas, averaging 419,000 cu. ft. per day at last report. 11 Fort Worth, Texas, independent Rust Oil Corp. scheduled a directional wildcat more than 1.5 miles southwest of the Red River in the northwestern portion of Hardeman County (RRC 9). The #1 Brothers/Brandon Unit, located in Block 8 of the Wheeler County School Land Survey, A-652, is set to bottom less than 300 ft. to the west beneath Block 6. It has been permitted to 6,000 ft. 12 J. Cleo Thompson, based in Dallas, staked a horizontal wildcat about 15 miles southwest of the town of Toyah in West Texas. The #2H Fasken Ranch "34," located in Section 34, Block 58, T7, T&P RR Co. Survey, A-4635, in Reeves County (RRC 8), is set to reach a total depth of 9,000 ft. bottoming over a half mile to the northeast beneath the same section. The closest producer is about 2.5 miles to the east in two-well Golden Corral Field. The 7,800-ft. well yielded 13.61 million cu. ft. of gas, 314 bbl. of condensate and 314 bbl. of water through September 2004. 13 Kilgore, Texas, independent Energico Production Inc. staked a wildcat on the northwest flank of the Val Verde Basin in the northeastern portion of Terrell County (RRC 8), Texas. The #1 Slaughter "63," located in Section 63, Block B2, CCSD&RGNG Survey, A-226, is set to target gas about 2 miles south of the Pecos County line and about 40 miles north of the town of Dryden, according to IHS Energy. More than 3 miles to the north-northeast is Yucca Butte Field. The #1 Blackstone-Slaughter was tested in 1971 flowing 1.95 million cu. ft. of gas daily through perforations between 8,820-21 ft. in the Pennsylvanian. The 8,916-ft. well never produced commercially. 14 James K. Anderson Inc., based in Norman, Texas, scheduled a wildcat 4 miles south-southwest of Roby, Texas, in central Fisher County (RRC 7B). The #1 Appleton-Aycock Unit, located in Labor 23, League 306, El Paso County School Land Survey, A-22, is set to reach a total depth of 5,100 ft. About 1.3 miles to the east-southeast is the closest previous producer in one-well Longworth Field. The #1 SE Knox was completed in 1953 pumping 163 bbl. of 38-degree oil daily from the Flippen at 3,622-70 ft. The 6,470-ft. well recovered 64,635 bbl. of crude, 17.4 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 10,166 bbl. of water until it was abandoned in 1980. 15 Midland, Texas-based Southwest Royalties Inc. staked a wildcat in eastern Yoakum County (8A). Located in Section 561, Block D, John H. Gibson Survey, A-414, the #1 Fiji is set to reach a total depth of 10,200 ft. The nearest production is about 2.3 miles to the northeast in Tokio South Field. The #1 Willie Joiner yielded a cumulative 512 bbl. of crude. Total depth of the well is 9,975 ft. 16 FIML Natural Resources LLC, of Denver, staked a West Texas wildcat about 15 miles west of Seminole in western Gaines County (RRC 8A). The #1 F. Schwertz, located in Section 483, Block G, CCSD&RGNG Survey, A-26, is set to reach objectives including the San Andres between 4,915 and 5,280 ft., and the Clear Fork between 6,781 and 7,114 ft. One-well Bittner Field is 1.5 miles to the northeast. The #1 Edmund J. Yahn "465" has produced 7,939 bbl. of oil and condensate, 451.1 million cu. ft. of gas and 20,945 bbl. of water from a San Andreas pool opened in 1996. Total depth of the well is 9,500 ft.
