1 A stepout from the now abandoned 1967 discovery of Wolgamott Field in Barber County, Kan., has been completed by Jack Exploration Inc. for an initial gauge of 1.67 million cu. ft. of gas per day. The Sulphur, Okla., firm's extension is the #2-9 Wolgamott in Section 9-35s-14w. IHS Energy Group reports the well is producing from Pennsylvanian Lower Cherokee/Mississippian at 4,792-4,805 ft. and Mississippian at 4,825-44 and 4,876-98 ft. It's a third-mile east-northeast of the field opener, #1 Wolgamott, which produced until 1994. 2 Deep Rock Exploration Inc., Goodland, Kan., is rigging up rotary tools to drill to 6,000 ft. in Pennsylvanian Morrow at the #2 Schmalzried, a remote wildcat in Section 15-14s-39w, Wallace County, Kan. A north offset, also scheduled to go to 6,000 ft., has been staked at the #1 Schmalzried in Section 10. 3 In Beaver County, Okla., a flow gauge of 294 bbl. of oil, 1.19 million cu. ft. of gas and 33 bbl. of water per day was recorded by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. at the #1 Martin "D" that extended Liberal Southeast Field about 0.25-mile west. Houston-based Anadarko's well, drilled in Section 29-6n-20ecm, is producing from an interval at 6,734-60 ft. in Mississippian Lower Chester, reports IHS Energy Group. 4 A Pennsylvanian Oswego pool in Oklahoma's Guymon South Field was extended 1.25 miles to the southeast with the completion of the Phillips Petroleum Co. #3 Princess flowing 7.043 million cu. ft. of gas and 18.5 bbl. of condensate per day. The stepout, in Section 2-1n-15ecm, Texas County, was tested on a 32/64-in. choke through perforations at 5,727-34 ft. in Oswego. 5 Pax Energy Ltd., Oklahoma City, has completed the #1-33 Josephus, the first well drilled on the Vici Prospect in Ellis County, Okla., for a flow of 1.448 million cu. ft. of gas and 138 bbl. of oil per day on a 14/64-in. choke, according to interest-owner TBX Resources Inc., Dallas. Located in Section 33-19n-21w, a half-mile northeast of Harmon Southeast Field, the extension is producing through perforations at 9,453-68 and 9,480-82 ft. in Pennsylvanian Red Fork. TBX says it participated with a 20% working interest in the well. Due to the success of the outpost, the Vici Prospect is now a proposed 10-well drilling program with each test scheduled to go to approximately 9,700 ft. to test Red Fork. TBX, in anticipation of the success of the #1-33 Josephus, increased its acreage position on any subsequent wells drilled on the Vici Prospect up to a 37.5% working interest. 6 Oklahoma's Roger Mills County is the site of an exploratory well completed by Houston-based El Paso Production Co. initially flowing 2.5 million cu. ft. of gas per day. The #4-2 Broadbent, which reached an approximate total depth of 12,000 ft., is producing from Red Fork (Cherokee), reports IHS Energy Group. Located in Section 4-16n-21w, the well extended a Red Fork gas/condensate pool, opened by El Paso, 0.5-mile west. The company is at work at several other Red Fork tests in the vicinity. 7 Yet another extension was recently completed, this one by EOG Resources Inc. at a site a half-mile east of Sparks Field in Hemphill County, Texas. The Houston firm's #3 Lockhart 57, Section 57, Block 42, H&TC Survey, A-277, had an initial rate of 283 bbl. of oil and 1.65 million cu. ft. of gas per day on an 18/64-in. choke. The easternmost well in the field, it's producing through perforations at 7,661-68 ft., 7,672-78 and 7,732-40 ft. in Pennsylvanian Tonkawa. 8 IHS Energy Group reports Raydon Exploration Inc., Oklahoma City, has recompleted a marginal producer in Texas' Laketon Field as a Pennsylvanian Granite Wash well that had an initial flow gauge of 440 bbl. of oil and 354,000 cu. ft. of gas per day, with a trace of water. It's the #2 Cook in Section 110, Block M2, BS&F Survey, A-889, Gray County. The workover, which was tested using a 16/64-in. choke, is now producing through perforations at 9,758-64 ft. in the "Delp" zone of the Lower Granite Wash sequence. Raydon first completed the well last summer flowing 134,000 cu. ft. of gas, one bbl. of condensate and a similar amount of water per day from a deeper Granite Wash zone at 9,903-07 ft. 9 Key Energy of Colorado Inc., Tulsa, has completed two horizontal producers in Hardeman County, Texas, with one of them-the #4H McNabb-representing the first such well in the county. The #4H McNabb, Section 29, Block H, W&NW Survey, A-498, in Down Under Field, flowed 97 bbl. of oil and 130,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 6/64-in. choke from an openhole interval between 8,781-9,392 ft. in Mississippian Chappel Lime. Key's other horizontal well is the #2H Hurst in Section 2, S.D. Guthrie Survey, A-1698, Hurst Field. It flowed 117 bbl. of oil and 22 bbl. of water per day on a 24/64-in. choke from two Mississippian laterals between 8,016-8,816 and 8,016-8,929 ft. 10 A Upper Caddo well, the #1 Redwine-Ash "128-1" Unit completed by Sharp Image Energy Inc., has apparently reestablished production in Box Springs West Field in Throckmorton County, Texas. Sharp Image, headquartered in Big Spring, gauged a flow of 100 bbl. of oil and 80,000 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 10/64-in. choke at the well, in Section 128, BBB&C (B.F. Merry) Survey, A-1068. The production is coming from a perforated interval at 4,888-93 ft. The field produced oil from Pennsylvanian Upper Caddo and Atoka between the mid-1960s and the mid-1980s. 11 Crockett County, Texas, gained a Pennsylvanian Strawn discovery when Dallas independent J. Cleo Thompson completed the #1 Shannon Hospital "18" flowing 102 bbl. of oil and 119,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. The wildcat, two miles south-southeast of the closest production in World South Field, yielded the flow on a 13/64-in. choke through perforations at 8,450-72 ft. It's in Section 18, Block BB, EL&RR Survey, A-4946. Crockett County is also the site of a new high-volume oil well in Crossett South Field-the #214 South Cross Unit-that was completed by Occidental Permian Ltd. flowing 720 bbl. of oil, 1.013 million cu. ft. of gas and one bbl. of water per day. Devonian, perforated at 5,160-66 ft., was tested on a 32/64-in. choke. The well is in Section 20, Block 31, H&TC Survey, A-406. 12 Westin Energy I LP, Midland, has completed two discoveries in Pecos County, Texas, while Riata Energy Inc., Amarillo, has finaled a high-volume gas well in the Bitterweed Field area of the county. Westin's first discovery-the #1 McKenzie "85"-flowed 2.634 million cu. ft. of gas and 116 bbl. of condensate per day on a variable choke from 7,596-7,636 ft. in Devonian.
