1 New exploration in Kansas includes three tests where drilling is under way, reports IHS Energy Group. In Stevens County, EOG Resources Inc., Houston, is drilling toward a target depth of 6,600 ft. at the #11-3 Rittenoure in Section 11-34s-35w. Objectives of the deeper-pool wildcat in Hugoton Field include Pennsylvanian Morrow Sand and Mississippian zones. Murfin Drilling Co. Inc., Wichita, is drilling below 4,550 ft. at the 6,100-ft. #1-33 Orth in Section 33-2s-41w, Cheyenne County. The Pennsylvanian wildcat is to be drilled to Marmaton, with Lansing-Kansas City being the primary objective. The third drilling venture is Wichita independent Mull Drilling Co.'s #1-22 Vaughn Trust in the Coldwater area of Comanche County. Mull is drilling below 5,100 ft. at the wildcat in Section 22-31s-19w. The company plans to evaluate zones through Cambro-Ordovician Arbuckle. 2 Mewbourne Oil Co., Tyler, Texas, recorded a flow of 2.06 million cu. ft. of gas and 114 bbl. of condensate per day on a test of a new Pennsylvanian Oswego pool discovered at the #1 Jacoby "10" in Section 10-22n-24w, Ellis County, Okla. The operator tested Oswego on a 12/64-in. choke through perforations at 7,554-70 ft. at the well that originally was a Morrow producer on the northwestern flank of Gage Field. 3 The EOG Resources Inc. #16-2 Freeman Ranch is a Bader (Permian Council Grove) deeper-pool discovery in Oklahoma's Texas County that yielded a flow of 1.225 million cu. ft. of gas and three bbl. of water per day at completion. The 6,900-ft. discovery, in Section 16-3n-13ecm, in Guymon-Hugoton Field, is producing through perforations at 3,112-26 ft. IHS Energy Group notes production tests of a Purdy (Morrow) interval at 6,147-53 ft. were unsuccessful and the zone was closed off by a cast-iron bridge plug set at 6,130 ft. 4 A remote wildcat in LeFlore County, Okla.-The GHK Co. LLC #1-19 Blagg in Section 19-3n-22e-has been completed for a flow of 678,000 cu. ft. of gas per day, with 24 bbl. of load water, from seven intervals between 11,046-14,365 ft. in Mississippian Stanley. It's seven miles east-northeast of the company's Potato Hills Field. Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City firm has opened two new pays at an exploratory test a mile west of the field. Its #1-9 Gee, Section 9-2n-19e, Pushmataha County, flowed 1.13 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Arkansas Novaculite at 5,490-5,514 ft. and 532,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from Big Fork at 3,390-3,400 ft. GHK used a 32/64-in. choke to test both zones. 5 An Upper Pennsylvanian Lower Cleveland discovery made by Oklahoma City independent JMA Energy Co. LLC in Dewey County, Oklahoma, was completed flowing 48 bbl. of oil, 1.82 million cu. ft. of gas and 30 bbl. of water per day. The #1-30 Hugh Carney, Section 30-16n-19w, yielded the flow on a 20/64-in. choke. There are two sets of perforations between 9,720-52 ft. 6 An exploratory well within a half-mile of producers on the western flank of Oklahoma's Vicar North Field has been production tested by Phillips Oil Operating Co. for a gauge of 240 bbl. of oil and 10,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. The #22-1 J.G. Ranch, Section 22-26n-7w, Grant County, was tested through perforations at 5,956-64 ft. in Misener. It apparently is separated from the field by dry holes. 7 Stanley Shale, perforated at 7,954-84 ft. and tested on a 16/64-in. choke, gave up a flow of 2.18 million cu. ft. of gas and six bbl. of oil per day at a 0.75-mile northeast extension of Daisy West Field in Atoka County, Okla. According to IHS Energy Group, Gulf Production Corp., Oklahoma City, drilled the #6-24 George in Section 24-1n-14e. 8 A new-field wildcat drilled by J.M. Huber Corp., Houston, in the Texas Panhandle was successful, having been completed for an initial flow rate of 3.358 million cu. ft. of gas, 143 bbl. of condensate and 20 bbl. of water per day. Huber's #1-62 Gill, Section 62, Block M-2, H&GN Survey, A-732, Roberts County, was gauged on a 21/64-in. choke through perforations at 13,460-72 ft., reportedly in Siluro-Devonian Hunton. Another potential pay, Ordovician Ellenburger, was perforated between 13,804-13,970 ft. A cast-iron bridge plug was set at 13,920 ft. and a retrievable bridge plug was set at 13,530 ft. 9 A flow gauge of 230 bbl. of oil per day, with a trace of gas, has been credited to a Schleicher County, Texas, Pennsylvanian Strawn discovery made by Sharp Image Energy Inc., Midland, at the #1 Williams Ranch. The well, in Section 26, HE&WT Survey, A-1287, is producing from an openhole interval at 7,204-45 ft. Testing was carried out using an 8/64-in. choke. Sharp Image deepened the well, which was originally abandoned at a total depth of 5,400 ft. in 1969. 10 Marshall & Winston Inc., Midland, recorded an initial flow gauge of 2.496 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the #1 Allison, a discovery in Sutton County, Texas, reports IHS Energy Group. Located in Section 18, Block A9, GT RR Survey, A-1321, the wildcat was completed on a 32/64-in. choke through perforations at 6,255-61 ft. in Strawn. 11 Midland-based Reatta Energy Inc. has completed a Permian Wolfcamp discovery in Pecos County, Texas, flowing 964,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. The #1 Woodward "56" has three perforated intervals between 4,990-5,183 ft. Reatta used a 13/64-in. choke to test the well in Section 56, Block 11, H&GN Survey, A-8701. Elsewhere in Pecos County, a Wolfcamp producer completed by Ruwco Oil & Gas Corp., Austin, has confirmed the opener of Comida Deluxe Field. Ruwco's #2 Casteno flowed 288 bbl. of oil and 3.01 million cu. ft. of gas per day on a 10/64-in. choke through perforations at 6,462-92 ft. It offsets to the southwest the discovery #1 Casteno that yielded a flow 194 bbl. of oil and 190,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. The two wells are in Section 1, Block 215, William D. Henley Survey, A-5016. 12 Texas' Reeves County is the site of the Two Oaks Operating Co. LLC #1 Hermosa Unit, a recompleted well that ended up as a Wolfcamp discovery that flowed 822,000 cu. ft. of gas and 300 bbl. of water per day. The Flower Mound, Texas, firm used an 18/64-in. choke to test after perforating at 14,836-66 ft. The 20,800-ft well, in Section 75, Block 4, H&GN Survey, A-418, was originally completed in 1973 and tested gas from Devonian Fusselman at 17,532-35 ft. 13 A pump gauge of 541 bbl. of oil and 40 bbl. of water per day is reported for the #12 Sam C. Jenkins, a deeper-pool discovery completed by Texaco E&P Inc. in the Jenkins Field area of Gaines County, Texas. Perforations are at 9,019-39 ft. at the well in Section 4, Block A25, PSL Survey, A-952. The well offsets 4,764-ft. Permian San Andres oil production in Jenkins Field. 14 A dual-oil discovery in Dickens County, Texas-the #2 Bell Unit-was completed by Gunn Oil Co., Wichita Falls, flowing 128 bbl. of oil and 33,800 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 12/64-in. choke from Stockwether at 4,778-90 ft. and 111 bbl. of oil and 52,900 cu. ft. of gas per day on a 14/64-in. choke from Permian Tannehill between 4,890-4,904 ft. IHS Energy Group notes Gunn has requested the well, in Section 300, Block 1, H&GN Survey, A-375, be designated the opener of Mound Field. 15 Burnett Oil Co. Inc., Fort Worth, tested 129 bbl. of oil per day on pump, with gas at a daily rate of 12,000 cu. ft., from Pennsylvanian at the discovery #1 Burnett AWM RR in King County, Texas. The well is in Section 22, Block T, R.M. Thompson Survey, A-529. It's producing through perforations at 5,517-43 ft. and 5,551-62 ft. 16 New Mexico's Eddy County gained a discovery that apparently opened Buzzard Canyon Field, according to IHS Energy Group. Yates Petroleum Co., Artesia, N.M., tested the #1 Blacktail "ATT" Federal, Section 21-20s-21e, flowing 725,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from Wolfcamp at 4,708-28 ft. The well is 1.5 miles west of Indian Loafer Draw Field. Also in Eddy County, the operator has set pipe at a total depth of 9,400 ft. at an indicated discovery. The #2 Luke Unit is a Mississippian test in Section 3-21s-22e.
