1 A remote region of western Kansas is the site an Oxy USA exploratory program, reports IHS Energy Group. The company has staked the #1 Brining "A" in western Hamilton County, about two miles from the Kansas/Colorado state line. The well, in Section 11-23s-43w, is six miles off the western flank of the Bradshaw Gas Area, which produces from Permian Chase above 2,600 ft. Projected depth is 5,400 ft. In Section 26 of the same township, the company plans the #1 Sullivan Investments Inc. "A," projected to test formations through Mississippian St. Louis. The operator is also at work on another 5,400-ft. wildcat in the area, the #1 Oxy USA Inc. "A," in Section 22-22s-43w. 2 The northern shelf of the Anadarko Basin is the site of a new Morrow producer completed by United Oil Corp. Denver-based Credo Petroleum Corp., the parent of United, reports that the #1-33 Redfearn, Section 33-25n-23w, Harper County, is flowing 3 million cu. ft. of gas, along with 14 bbl. of condensate, per day into sales. Production is from 13 net perforated ft. in two Pennsylvanian Morrow sands around 7,400 ft. Elsewhere in the area, United has set production casing at a test on its 1,360-acre Two Springs Prospect in Mocane-Laverne Field. The company's #1-3 Wills, Section 3-25n-23w, encountered 31 net ft. of pay in two Morrow intervals and three in the Chester. The 7,400-ft. well is currently waiting on a completion unit. Also on the northern shelf, Dominion Oklahoma Texas Exploration & Production Inc. flowed 340 bbl. of oil, 577,000 cu. ft. of gas and 53 bbl. of water per day from a Blaine County development well. The #1-1 Winter, Section 1-17n-10w, was perforated and treated in the Mississippian Solid from 8,644-9,163 ft. and in the Chester between 7,942-8,332 ft. 3 Unit Petroleum, Tulsa, has completed a high-volume producer in Oklahoma's Watonga-Chickasha Trend. The #2 Evans "A," Section 3-13n-9w, Canadian County, was drilled to a total depth of 10,300 ft. and tested from the Morrow-Springer. The well flowed 18.5 million cu. ft. of gas per day, with no reported liquids, from 10,040-10,112 ft. Unit holds an 80% working interest in the well, which currently is producing to sales. The company is currently drilling another Springer test, the #1 Briscoe, some nine miles southwest, in Section 30-13n-10w. In separate activity in the same trend, Enid-based Ward Petroleum flowed gas at the rate of 2.3 million cu. ft. per day from its #1-6 Helen, Section 6-11n-10w, Canadian County. The well is producing from the Morrow sand at 12,423-34 ft. 4 A Pennsylvanian Granite Wash drilling program in Washita County, Okla., continues to yield results for Marathon Oil Co. Marathon's latest success is the #4-17 Wanda Lee, Section 17-9n-20w. The 12,400-ft. well flowed 3.56 million cu. ft. of gas, 79 bbl. of condensate and 125 bbl. of water per day from Granite Wash. The well is the fourth for Marathon in Section 17, and part of a larger play that spans the area between Elk City South and Sentinel fields. IHS Energy reports that at the end of 2001, 40 wells were producing in the trend. 5 Sanguine Ltd., Tulsa, flowed gas at the rate of 14.2 million cu. ft per day from seven Morrow-Springer intervals in a development well in Mayfield Northeast Field, Beckham County, Okla. The #1-25 Emily "B," Section 25-11n-26w, flowed 8.97 million cu. ft. per day from three intervals between 16,868-17,718 ft. and 5.23 million per day from four deeper zones between 17,868-19,872 ft. Meanwhile, details have been released by St. Mary Operating Co., Denver, on another high-volume producer about two miles southeast of Sanguine's well. The #1-32 Legrand, Section 32-11n-25w, flowed at a combined rate of 17.2 million cu. ft. of gas and 112 bbl. of water per day from 60 net ft. of perforations between 16,448-17,743. The 18,250-ft. well encountered 10 pay intervals in the Morrow. 6 Two exploratory tests have been successfully completed on southern Oklahoma's Criner Hills Uplift, reports IHS Energy Group. The #2-27 Daube, drilled by Greehey Investments Ltd., College Station, Texas, flowed 185 bbl. of oil and 140,000 cu. ft. of gas, with a trace of water, from Ordovician Birdseye Lime at 2,240-2,385 ft. The 2,417-ft. test was drilled in Section 27-5s-1e, Carter County. About 11 miles northwest, Mack Energy Co., Duncan, Okla., flowed 160 bbl. of oil, 108,000 cu. ft. of gas and 40 bbl. of water per day from its #2 Chandler. The well, in Section 20-4s-1w, is producing from three intervals in the Mississippian Sycamore between 8,970-9,367 ft. That well is also in Carter County. 7 XTO Energy Inc., Fort Worth, has completed a dual producer in Arkansas' Dyer Field. The #6-9 Alexander, Section 9-l9n-29w, Crawford County, flowed 4.4 million cu. ft. of gas per day from the Pennsylvanian Ralph Barton and 2.1 million cu. ft. per day from the Cecil sand. The former is perforated at 4,874-76 ft. and the latter at 5,165-5,186 ft. 8 Another Pennsylvanian development test, this one in Arkansas' Massard Field, flowed 6.11 million cu. ft. of gas per day from two zones. Fort Smith-based Stephens Production Co. tested the #4 Hardscrabble Country Club, in Section 26-8n-32w, northwestern Sebastian County, flowing 4.5 million cu. ft. of gas daily from the Spiro at 5,672-82 ft. It also tested 1.61 million cu. ft. of gas per day from the Ralph Barton at 5,212-19 ft. Total depth of the well, which is a directional test within eastern city limits of Fort Smith, was 6,350 ft. Stephens has also completed a development test on the Oklahoma side of the Arkoma Basin, in southeastern Sequoyah County's Kinta Field. Gas flowed at an initial rate of 3.63 million cu. ft. per day, with no fluids, at the #13-26 Redland Ranch in Section 26-10n-25e. The 6,922-ft. test was perforated and fracture-stimulated in the Pennsylvanian Cromwell at 6,448-54 and 6,502-28 ft. 9 Austin independent Jones Energy Ltd. has completed a horizontal well in the Patten Field area, Hansford County, Texas, about nine miles southwest of the town of Spearman. The #3 Hoover "A," Section 12, Block 3, SA&MG Survey, A-1251, flowed 852,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from an open-hole interval in the Permian Brown Dolomite at 3,356-5,664 ft. (3,246-66 ft. true vertical depth. The well was a redrill of a dry hole drilled four years ago by another operator. Since the company began a horizontal-drilling program in the field in 1996, it has completed 22 producers and one dry hole. The company has also staked an exploratory test in the region. The #3178 Patten Unit will be drilled in Section 178, Block 45, H&TC RR Co. Survey, A-1219. IHS Energy reports there is no drilling to comparable depths in the immediate vicinity. 10 EOG Resources has two successful extension wells in the Texas Panhandle, one in Hemphill County and one in Lipscomb County. The first is the #2 Lockhart 57 in Section 46, Block 42, H&TC Survey, A-1234. That well was tested from Pennsylvanian Tonkawa at a natural rate of 190 bbl. of oil, 2.54 million cu. ft. of gas and three bbl. of water per day. It extends Sparks Field to the east. In neighboring Lipscomb County, the company flowed 2.19 million cu. ft. of gas and a bbl. of condensate per day from its #1 Wheat 253. That well is producing from treated perforations in the Lower Morrow between 11,150-11,290 ft. The test, in Section 253, Block 43, H&TC Survey, A-127, extends Coburn Field to the west. 11 A Mississippian Barnett Shale producer has been completed in Texas' Parker County by Plano-based Denbury Resources Inc. The #1 Brown flowed 1 million cu. ft. of gas and 721 bbl. of water per day from perforations at 6,513-39 ft., 6,565-6,617 ft. and 6,628-88 ft. The well, in M. C. Moulton Survey, A-933, is 2.5 miles southeast of the nearest producer in Newark East Field. The well is the company's fifth Barnett Shale producer in the Parker County portion of Newark East Field. The first Parker County Barnett Shale well was completed in March 2001 by The Cumming Co. The #1 Smith-Ashcroft has produced 12.91 million cu ft of gas and 10,207 bbl. of water through year-end 2001, reports IHS. 12 The #1 XX Ranch, a wildcat in Coleman County, Texas, flowed 126 bbl. of oil and 50,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from the Ordovician Ellenburger. Abilene-based operator Enrich Oil Corp. drilled the well to 4,581 ft. in Section 4, W.B. Roddan Survey, A-1116. 13 Occidental Permian Ltd. has completed a Permian Wolfcamp well in Lamb County, Texas, flowing 412 bbl. of oil, 5,000 cu. ft. of gas and one bbl. of water per day from Wolfcamp. The #1 Snitker, Section 31, Block 1, R. M. Thomson Survey, A-98, was completed through an openhole interval between 6,600-7,146 ft., total depth. A quarter-mile north in the same section, the company has spudded the #2 Snitker, projected to a total depth of 7,500 ft. The Oxy activity is less than a quarter-mile west of Devon SFS Operating Inc.'s #1 Lancaster, which extended the Wolfcamp play in Anton-Irish Field into Lamb County in January. That well, in Section 32, was tested flowing 493 bbl. of oil, 65,000 cu. ft. of gas and 163 bbl. of water per day through an openhole interval at 6,556-6,702 ft. 14 Ruwco Oil & Gas Corp., Austin, has completed a wildcat in eastern Pecos County, Texas, flowing 101 bbl. of oil and 850,000 cu. ft. of gas per day. The #1 Thai is 1.33 miles west of Devonian production in Ruwco's Dusty Mesa Field, which the firm discovered last year. The well was tested through acidized perforations in the Wolfcamp at 6,690-6,708 ft. in Section 1, Block 603, GC&SF Survey. A-4840. Total depth was 7,000 ft.
