1 Castle Resources Inc., Schoenchen, Kan., completed a wildcat seven miles south and slightly west of Russell, Kan., through four intervals in the Lansing-Kansas City between 3,038 and 3,190 ft. The #1 Driscoll, in Section 8-15s-14w in Russell County, initially pumped 80 bbl. of oil with 20 bbl. of water daily through acidized perforations. Total depth of the well is 3,349 ft. The well is 0.5-mile southeast of Gideon Field. Ultimate recovery for the #1 Gideon was 50,000 bbl. of oil. 2 Wichita-based Ritchie Exploration Inc. completed a discovery five miles east-northeast of the town of Fowler in southwestern Kansas in northwestern Clark County. It is producing gas at a daily average rate of 1.52 million cu. ft. The #1 Lang 30C, in Section 30-30s-25w, produced 13 million cu. ft. of gas in March and 45.5 million cu. ft. in April, according to IHS Energy. The 5,710-ft. well, which is the Glider Port Field opener, was completed in the Lansing-Kansas City, but completion details are not being released. It is more than 1.5 miles south-southwest of the nearest previous producer in Norcan Southwest Field, which has recovered 63,000 bbl. of oil and 14.5 million cu. ft. of gas from the Marmaton at around 5,050 ft. 3 Chesapeake Operating Inc., Oklahoma City, staked a wildcat in White County, a lightly drilled area of northern Arkansas five miles north-northwest of Searcy. The #1-7 Reaper, in Section 7-8n-7w, is projected to reach 6,500 ft. It is 0.5-mile southeast of the Albion Field opener, the #1 Reaper, which produced 17 million cu. ft. of gas during 15 months online. 4 The Seeco Inc. unit of Houston-based Southwestern Energy drilled a northern Arkansas wildcat north of Belleville in Yell County. The #1-10 Standridge, in Section 10-5n-23w, was initially tested flowing 1.3 million cu. ft. of gas daily through fracture-stimulated perforations between 4,153 and 4,224 ft. in the Turner. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 605 psi on a 32/64-in. choke. Other tests in the Basham yielded a flow rate of 500,000 cu. ft. of gas daily through fracture-treated perforations between 3,468 and 3,522 ft. The well is seven miles east of its closest producer, which is in Waveland Field. No production details were currently available. 5 The GHK Co. LLC, Oklahoma City, completed a wildcat two miles west of Sayre in central Beckham County, Okla., in the deep western Anadarko Basin. Tests of the #1-36 Long Creek, in Section 36-10n-24w, showed an initial flowing potential of 1.35 million cu. ft. of gas and 480 bbl. of water daily through perforations in the Overthrusted Hunton between 13,650-94 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 1,590 psi through a 16/64-in. choke. The company has also planned new exploration in the western Oklahoma portion of the deep Anadarko Basin. According to IHS Energy, the operator is seeking a pooling order covering 16 formations ranging from the Brown Dolomite through Arbuckle underlying Section 1-9n-22w, about four miles north-northeast of Carter, in eastern Beckham County. 6 Devon Energy Production Co. LP, Oklahoma City, staked a wildcat five miles east-southeast of Gerty in southeastern Oklahoma in southeastern Hughes County. The #1-18 Williams, in Section 18-4n-11e, is projected to 7,900 ft. to reach the Woodford shale. The well is almost three miles northwest of the #1-29 Poe, which had an initial flowing potential of 376,000 cu. ft. of gas and 30 bbl. of water through treated perforations in the Woodford between 7,760 and 7,878 ft. The well went online in March 2005 after recovering 5.4 million cu. ft. of gas. 7 Artesia, N.M.-based Yates Petroleum Corp. staked a wildcat in the Vada Field area of northern Lea County, N.M., targeting the Mississippian, just over 20 miles north-northwest of the town of Tatum. The #1 Vaughn "BGZ," in Section 19-9s-34e, is set to reach a total depth of 12,400 ft. The well is 0.33-mile southeast. The #2 Ainsworth was completed in 1968 flowing oil from the Pennsylvanian Bough C through perforations between 9,816-24 ft. Until 1976, the 9,890-ft. well yielded 176,746 bbl. of oil, 203.1 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 257,928 bbl. of water. 8 Elk Oil Co. completed a discovery in central Chaves County, N.M., more than 20 miles east of the operator's headquarters in Roswell. The #2 Cobra Federal, in Section 19-11s-27e, tested in the Fusselman pumping 100 bbl. of oil per day, with a trace of gas and 100 bbl. of water through acid-treated perforations between 6,178-82 ft. Total well depth is 6,311 ft. The nearest producer in the same section is the #1 Cobra Federal Com in the western flank of Coyote Field, about 0.67-mile northeast. The 6,598-ft. well, brought online last November, has recovered 12.32 million cu. ft. of gas. 9 Midland, Texas, independent RK Petroleum Corp. plans to drill in southwestern Dawson County (RRC 8A) about six miles west of the town of Patricia, Texas. The #1 Kent CSL "17," in Labor 17, League 265, Kent County School Land Survey, A-405, about 1.5 miles east of the Gaines County line, is set to reach 8,800 ft. The nearest production is almost a mile east-southeast. The #1 Kent County School Land, in MAK Field, recovered a cumulative 433 bbl. of crude and 420,000 cu. ft. of gas after being onstream six months. 10 EOG Resources Inc., Houston, staked a Barnett Shale wildcat nearly five miles north-northwest of Bluff Dale, Texas, in northeastern Erath County (RRC 7B) some 1.5 miles southwest of the Hood County line. The #1H Houston Ranch, in the Grenbery Logan Survey, A-488, is a horizontal test slated to reach 6,000 ft., bottoming 0.5-mile southeast beneath the same survey, according to IHS Energy. More than eight miles from the well is the nearest production in Hood County in Newark East Field. The #1 Tanya Randall, which has been online since December 2004, has yielded 18.73 million cu. ft. of gas, 326 bbl. of condensate and 17,278 bbl. of water through perforations between 4,970 and 5,100 ft. 11 Millican, Texas-based Lometa Exploration Corp. staked its second wildcat more than eight miles north of the town of Copperas Cove in the southern tip of Coryell County (RRC 7B). The #1 Morse, in the John Winn Survey, A-1068, is set to reach a total depth of 5,800 ft. The #1 W.D. Bowlin is the lone commercial producer of about 60 tests to date in the county. It was completed in 1964 pumping oil at a rate of 86 bbl. per day through perforations between 3,334-52 ft. The 3,583-ft. workover was online through 1965, yielding 934 bbl. of crude. 12 Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co. LP, Houston, completed a Barnett Shale producer flowing gas at a daily rate of 2.04 million cu. ft. in northern Reeves County (RRC 8) about nine miles west-northwest of the town of Pecos, Texas. The #1 Kirk, in Section 23, Block C18, PSL Survey, A-1656, was tested through acid- and fracture-treated perforations between 14,786 and 15,237 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 2,615 psi on a 12/64-in. choke. Total depth of the well is 16,210 ft. According to IHS Energy, the nearest Mississippian production is more than 8.5 miles east-northeast in Mi Vida Field. The #1 Schwalbe Unit yielded 7.66 billion cu. ft. of gas and 27,872 bbl. of water during two years online through perforations between 16,152 and 16,434 ft. in the Fusselman. It was recompleted in the Mississippian and produced a cumulative 179.35 million cu. ft. of gas, eight bbl. of condensate and 886 bbl. of water through perforations between 15,327-39 ft. 13 Approach Operating LLC, Fort Worth, permitted a third exploratory test in the southern portion of the Delaware Basin in eastern Pecos County (RRC 8). The #1 Richardson-State "26," in Section 26, Block C4, GC&SF Survey, A-7180, is set to reach 9,500 ft. The closest producer is in Apache Camp Field. The #1 Roy Priest was tested flowing 286 bbl. of crude daily through acidized perforations between 8,230-39 ft. The well yielded a total of 5,590 bbl. of oil and 232,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas from mid-1962 through year-end 1964. 14 Graham, Texas-based Duncan Land & Exploration permitted a wildcat in western McCulloch County (RRC 7C) some 0.75-mile east of the Concho County line. The #1 Ogden, in Section 14, H&TC Survey, A-1708, is set to reach a total depth of 4,000 ft. Immediately northwest in the same section is the #1 R&H Hopeful, which was completed in 1953. The 2,020-ft. well was tested pumping 30 bbl. of oil and 270 bbl. of water per day from Strawn, perforated between 1,735-40 ft. 15 Dominion Exploration & Production Inc., Houston, scheduled a Val Verde Basin wildcat in the southwestern portion of Sutton County (RRC 7C), more than 20 miles southwest of the town of Sonora. The #2 Phillips-Hunnicutt, in Section 40, EL&RR Survey, A-1463, more than 3.5 miles east of the Crockett County line, is set to reach 11,500 ft. to the Strawn. The nearest production in Aldwell Ranch Field is three miles west-northwest. According to IHS Energy, the #1 Phillips "17" was completed in 1978 flowing gas at a daily rate of 840,000 cu. ft. through perforations in the Canyon between 9,036 and 9,138 ft. The 9,995-ft. well produced a total of 21.66 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,373 bbl. of water between 1979-83. 16 Dominion Exploration & Production Inc., Houston, plans to drill an 8,250-ft. wildcat in west-central Edwards County (RRC 1) about 15 miles west of the town of Rock Springs. The nearest production to the #1 Newman "7," in Section 7, TC RR Co Survey, A-1325, is 3.3 miles north-northeast in Rocksprings West Field. According to IHS Energy, the #1 C.D. Hopkins "A" was completed in 1977. Since then the 10,264-ft. producer has yielded 336.19 million cu. ft. of gas, four bbl. of condensate and 1,056 bbl. of water through perforations in the Canyon between 6,389-411 ft.
