Kootenay Energy Inc., Calgary, (Toronto Venture: KTY) has completed the acquisition of a private Alberta corporation. Kootenay gains oil and gas assets in the Hasting, Viewfield, Weyburn and Elswick areas of southeast Saskatchewan, establishing another core area to complement the corporation's current gas production in central Alberta. The properties are nonoperated with working interests varying from 40% to 10%, and have light-oil production with a reserve-life index of more than 10 years. The properties also include approximately 360,000 barrels of proven and 435,000 barrels of proven-plus-probable reserves and associated infrastructure. Production on the properties is approximately 90 barrels of oil equivalent per day, resulting in the corporation's production increasing to approximately 190 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The transaction has provided for the issuance of 100 shares of Kootenay at C$0.50 each and the assumption of approximately C$3.6 million in debt.
