1 Range Production Co., Fort Worth, completed a remote horizontal Glen Rose discovery in the south-central portion of Leon County (RRC 5), Texas. The #2H Simms is in the Charles Bennett Survey, A-1214. It was tested pumping 93 bbl. of 44.6-gravity crude a day with 20,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 107 bbl. of water from Glen Rose at 9,080 to 12,545 ft. The new producer offsets to the northeastern #1 Simms. Drilled in 1987, this is the only other well drilled in the survey. Nearest recovery is more than eight miles southwest in Hilltop Resort Field.

2 Harman Operating Co. Inc., Tyler, Texas, released details on its Rodessa discovery in the northwestern corner of Angelina County (RRC 6), Texas, about 0.5 mile southeast of the Cherokee County line. The #2 J.W. Heirs Sessions in the John Durst Survey, A-703, was tested flowing 1.39 million cu. ft. of gas a day with 1 bbl. of condensate and 1 bbl. of water. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged 1,471 psi on an 11/64-in. choke. Doyle Creek Field to the northwest has yielded 9.63 billion cu. ft. of gas, 3,558 bbl. of condensate and 771,381 bbl. of water from Pettet and Travis Peak since coming online in 1983. Hosston and Cotton Valley recovery comes from Raintree Field, generally southwest. There is no Rodessa recovery in the area, reports IHS Inc.

3 Delta Exploration Co. Inc., Denver, reports its western Newton County (RRC 3), Texas, well flowed 1.24 million cu. ft. of gas a day about four miles west of Old Salem. The #1 Roughneck is in the James Alexander Survey, A-25. It was tested through perforations in the Miocene at 3,666 to 72 ft. with flowing tubing pressure of 1,515 psi on an adjustable choke. Comparable production is about six miles west-northwest in Jasper County’s one-well Mack Lake Field, which has yielded more than 382.09 million cu. ft.

4 El Paso Exploration & Production Co. LP, Houston, completed a Wilcox well flowing 15.1 million cu. ft. of gas with 163 bbl. of water a day in eastern Lavaca County (RRC 2), Texas. The #1 Rodgers was drilled to a total depth of 15,499 ft. in the William Parks Survey, A-362. Nearest Wilcox production is about 2.5 miles east-southeast. There, #3 Pitts flowed 6.42 million cu. ft. of gas a day when it was completed in 2003, and has recovered 842.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 14,531 bbl. of water as part of Speaks South Field. Speaks South Field has recovered a total of 7.61 billion cu. ft. of gas, 14,711 bbl. of condensate and 362,017 bbl. of water from five Wilcox wells since coming onstream in 2002.

5 Acock Operating Ltd., Houston, plans to drill #1H Murray Franklin Estate in northwestern McMullen County (RRC 1), Texas, more than 10 miles northwest of Tilden. The wildcat is in Section 267, Mrs. Friar Survey, A-662. Nearest recovery is more than four miles southwest in one-well Superstition Field. Henry Field is about eight miles southeast, where deeper recovery comes from Edwards and Reklaw about 10,000 ft. There have only been about 60 directional or horizontal tests drilled in McMullen County to date.

6 Esenjay Operating Inc., Corpus Christi, Texas, plans a 12,500-ft. wildcat in northeastern Hidalgo County (RRC 4), Texas, more than 15 miles northeast of the town of Edinburg. The #1 Coates Energy Trust is in the Juan Jose Balli Survey, A-290. Nearest previous production is a mile south-southwest in the same survey. There, one-well San Manuel East Field was opened in 1982 and yielded 1.21 million cu. ft. of gas during a two-month period.

7 Mariner Energy Inc., Houston, plans a deepwater wildcat for East Breaks Block 414 as part of its Sofia prospect. The #1 OCS G20708 will be drilled from a surface location in the northwestern corner of Block 458 in 2,720 ft. of water, the first of four wells proposed by Mariner in two separate exploration plans for the three-tract Sofia prospect. Tequila Field (East Breaks Block 109) is about 25 miles north-northeast. The reservoir has produced 89.19 billion cu. ft. of gas, 372,245 bbl. of condensate and 3.94 million bbl. of water from the Pleistocene since coming online in 1985.

8 Energy Partners Ltd., New Orleans, completed an offshore Louisiana discovery in the southern half of West Cameron Block 141. The #1 OCS G24714 was drilled to a total depth of 10,370 ft. in 50 ft. of water. The moderate-risk, moderate-potential well encountered high-quality natural gas pay in its objective sand and is expected to be online in the second quarter of 2008. The only previous production on the block is less than a mile southeast, reports IHS Inc. In 1994, #1 OCS G13559 was tested through Miocene perforations at 9,752-70 ft. and 10,238-93 ft. and recovered 1.23 billion cu. ft. of gas, 5,692 bbl. of condensate and 12,269 bbl. of water through 1995 as part of East Cameron Block 64 Field.

9 Helis Oil & Gas Co. LLC, New Orleans, completed a South Marsh Island gas discovery in northwestern Block 257, offshore Louisiana. The #1 OCS G24881 was drilled to an undisclosed total depth in 23 ft. of water. Previous production is 1.33 miles south-southeast in South Marsh Island Block 257 Field, which recovered 9.4 billion cu. ft. of gas and 100,671 bbl. of water from the Williana under lease OCS G02303 from 1978 to 1985.

10 LLog Exploration & Production Co., Covington, La., plans an offshore Texas wildcat in the northwestern nonproducing High Island Block A-300. The #2 OCS G24420 will be drilled in 194 ft. of water. LLog acquired Blocks A-300 and A-301 at OCS Sale 184 in 2002. Nearest previous drilling on Block A-301 is 2.75 miles south-southwest where #1 OCS G02731 was abandoned at 9,403 ft. in 1974. Gas production from the Willis was about 2.5 miles north of the new location on the three-tract Block A-285 Field that yielded 82.73 billion cu. ft. of gas, 100,602 bbl. of condensate and 842,771 bbl. of water from 1980 until 2000.

11 Leed Petroleum Plc, Lafayette, La., plans a wildcat for northwestern South Marsh Island Block 6 offshore Louisiana. The #2 OCS G26000 will be drilled in 63 ft. of water. Block 6 was online from 1964 until June 2002 under lease OCS G01177. Recovery totaled 18.59 million bbl. of oil and condensate, 36.36 billion cu. ft. of gas and 18.88 million bbl. of water from about 100 wells as part of South Marsh Island Block 6 Field.

12 Samson Offshore Co., Tulsa, Okla., plans up to three offshore Louisiana wells for the undrilled Ship Shoal Block 104, known as the Dampier prospect. It plans separate southeastern surface locations in 39 ft. of water. Nearest recovery is about a mile northeast of Samson’s first proposed site on Block 105. There, #2 OCS G09614 was completed in 1993 and yielded 1.26 billion cu. ft. of gas, 83,447 bbl. of condensate and 62,706 bbl. of water until mid-1994 as part of Ship Shoal Block 105 Field. The two-tract Block 105 Field has produced 64.21 billion cu. ft. with 4.31 million bbl. of crude and condensate and 8.89 million bbl. of water from Miocene.

13 Woodside Energy USA Inc., Covington, La., drilled #1 OCS G23005 in 5,368 ft. of water to an undisclosed depth in the eastern half of the undrilled Green Canyon Block 949, which is part of the Corona del Mar Prospect. The current test is about 10 miles west-northwest of the Big Foot North prospect on Green Block 953.

14 Chevron Corp.’s Union Oil plans a third wildcat on Walker Ridge Block 678 as part of the two-tract St. Malo prospect. It has employed a semisubmersible to drill #3 OCS G21245 in the northwestern corner in 7,016 ft. of water. Union temporarily abandoned #2 in the fall of 2003 about a mile south. According to interest-holder Devon Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, the well encountered a 450-ft. net oil pay over a gross interval of 1,400 ft.

15 Justiss Oil Co. Inc., Jena, La., scheduled a wildcat in western LaSalle Parish in northern Louisiana. The #1 Placid Fee CD is in Section 7-8n-2e and is slated to reach a total depth 3,800 ft. Nearest recovery is less than a mile west where Searcy West Field produces from the Wilcox. There, #16 HPR Fee has recovered 113,483 bbl. of oil and 2.26 million bbl. of water since coming onstream in 1990. Searcy West Field has recovered 1.89 million bbl. of oil, 84.55 million cu. ft. of gas and 49.58 million bbl. of water since coming online in 1962, reports IHS Inc.

16 Kash Oil & Gas Inc., Lafayette, La., completed a South Louisiana Frio discovery in southeastern Allen Parish flowing 1.82 million cu. ft. of gas and 120 bbl. of condensate a day. The #1 Marcantel Farms et al. is in Section 34-5s-6w. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 2,400 psi on 13/64-in. choke. Nearest recovery comes from Harmony Church Field almost three miles east. There, #2 Labokay Corp. was brought online as part of a two-well unitized lease that yielded 223,377 bbl. of oil and 69,659 bbl. of water since 1981. Harmony Church Field produced 2.2 billion cu. ft. of gas, 821,417 bbl. of oil and condensate and 276,158 bbl. of water primarily from Cockfield since 1980.
