1 A Travis Peak wildcat has been scheduled for southeastern Freestone County (RRC 5), Texas, about a mile northwest of the Leon County line. Tulsa, Okla.-based Unit Petroleum Co. will drill #1 Holland to 11,500 ft. in Daniel Parker Survey, A-492. If the well is completed, it could confirm Freedom Field. Nearest recovery is from Bossier in Dew Field about 1.5 miles west-northwest.

2 Tulsa, Okla.-based Samson Lone Star LLC has permitted an additional exploratory test in Nacogdoches County (RRC 6), adding to its extensive East Texas drilling program, reports IHS Inc. The #1 Avery Renee Gas Unit 1 is projected to 12,000 ft. in Henry Brewer Survey, A-11. About 2.5 miles west, Samson is drilling #1 Dana Lynn to a total depth of 12,000 ft. in Joseph Durst Survey, A-27. The wells are a few miles north and northwest of Samson’s recent Travis Peak discovery, #1 Garrett Gas Unit, in Douglass West Field. That well tested 1.06 million cu. ft. of gas a day with some condensate and 495 bbl. of water. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 750 psi on 20/64-in. choke. Brought online in 1967, Douglass West Field has made 136 billion cu. ft. of gas and 1.15 million bbl. of oil and condensate from Woodbine, Pettet and Travis Peak.

3 Denver-based Duncan Oil Inc. scheduled a directional wildcat in Brazoria County (RRC 3), Texas, about seven miles northwest of Holiday Lakes. The #1 Kittie Nash Groce Estate is in Thomas Allsberry Survey, A-3. Frio recovery comes from Lochridge Field about 1.75 miles north. Bell Lake Field, nearly three miles southeast, produced 33 billion cu. ft. of gas and 274,483 bbl. of crude and condensate from 1976 to 2006.

4 Spring, Texas-based Geo­Southern Energy Corp. scheduled a horizontal test in Dewitt County (RRC 2), Texas, about 10 miles west of Cuero. The #1 Buchorn is in the William M. Curtis Survey, A-137, and is projected to 14,500 ft. Nearest recovery is 5.25 miles southeast in Buchel Northeast Field, which produces from Lower Wilcox and Edwards.

5 A Wilcox discovery was reported by Midland, Texas-based Lakewood Operating Ltd. in southern La Salle County (RRC 1), Texas, about 20 miles southeast of Cotulla. The 6,100-ft. #3 Los Cuernos, in Section 261, Juana Calvillo Survey, A-136, was perforated at 5,644-46 ft. Flowing tubing pressure was gauged at 2,065 psi on 8/64-in. choke with an initial daily potential of 739,000 cu. ft. of gas. Wilcox recovery is about 3.5 miles east-southeast in Coquat Field.

6 Another directional wildcat has been slated by Corpus Christi, Texas-based BNP Petroleum Corp. on its Lemon prospect in state waters offshore Kenedy County (RRC 4), Texas. The #1 State Tract 1008-S is in Nicholas Balli Survey, A-4. Projected to a total depth of 11,700 ft., it targets Heterostegina and will bottom beneath North Padre Island Block 1008. From the same surface location, the proposed 11,700-ft. #2 State Tract 1008-S was staked in October 2007. According to IHS Inc., #1 and #2 are slated to share a proposed bottomhole location, but will not produce concurrently. Nearest recovery is on Block 1009 in Murdock Pass East Field, more than 1.5 miles southeast.

7 Hall-Houston Exploration II LP, Houston, has scheduled a wildcat in 65 ft. of water on Galveston Block 312. The #1 OCS G26478 is the second well to be drilled on the tract. About a mile north, in 1990, #1 OCS G08125 was drilled to depth of 8,800 ft. and abandoned. More than 3.5 miles east-southeast, one-tract Galveston Block 313 Field produced 22 billion cu. ft. of gas and 484,706 bbl. of condensate from Lower Miocene from 1991 to 1998.

8 The #A-1 OCS G24417 has been permitted for the western portion of irregular High Island Block A-260. This is the first of two outlined by Tarpon Offshore Ventures LP, Houston. It is an eastern offset to the only previous drilling on the tract, #1 OCS G08185, abandoned in 1989 at a total depth of 10,963 ft. Nearest production came from High Island Block A-274 about 3.5 miles south.

9 Houston independent Mar­iner Energy Inc. will drill #1 OCS G19127 in 2,715 ft. of water on Garden Banks Block 462. The site offsets a northwest wildcat drilled beneath Block 463, part of the Noonan prospect. One-well Garden Banks Block 379 Field is about 15 miles northeast of Noonan.

10 A wildcat is scheduled for undrilled Garden Banks Block 778 in 3,773 ft. of water. The #1 OCS G19175 is the first of two subsea wells planned by Shell Offshore Inc. Garden Banks Block 602 (Macaroni) Field is about 10 miles north. It has produced 12 million bbl. of oil and 20 billion cu. ft. of casinghead gas from Pliocene since coming online in 1999.

11 A wildcat has been scheduled for undrilled Keathley Canyon Block 596 by Oklahoma City-based explorer Devon Energy Production Co. LP. The #1 OCS G19600 is in the southeast corner of the Bass prospect in 6,448 ft. of water. Kaskida Field is about 25 miles north-northeast in Block 292. That field was discovered by #1 (BP2) OCS G25792, which reached a total depth of 32,499 ft. in 5,873 ft. of water and encountered 800 net ft. of hydrocarbon-bearing Lower Tertiary sands.

12 The #1 OCS G24926 is slated for Ship Shoal Block 120 offshore Louisiana in the Perch prospect. Bois d’Arc Offshore Ltd. will drill the well in the western half of the tract in 39 ft. of water. Nearest recovery is northeast at #1 OCS G05545. That 1983 well had an initial daily potential of 1.25 million cu. ft. of gas from the Pleistocene.

13 A Eugene Island Block 226 test has been scheduled in 130 ft. of water offshore Louisiana. Houston-based Hall-Houston Exploration II LP has permitted #1 OCS G22674. The #A-2 (BP) OCS G22674 is the only producing well on Block 226 and is about two miles east-northeast. Completed in mid-2001, the 11,800-ft. well has yielded 1.95 billion cu. ft. of gas and 685,717 bbl. of condensate as part of Eugene Island Block 205 Field.

14 The #A-3 (ST) OCS G26078 has been completed offshore Louisiana in the southwestern corner of Ship Shoal Block 351. Operated by ATP Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, the well was drilled to 9,587 ft. in 340 ft. of water. It was completed in Bentley from perforations between 9,202 and 57 ft., reports IHS Inc. Nearest recovery is on Block 358, more than three miles southwest.

15 A deepwater wildcat is slated for the southeastern portion of Green Canyon Block 561. The Woodlands, Texas-based Ana­darko Petroleum Corp. will drill #2 OCS G16753 in 4,144 ft. of water. Its #1 is immediately east. Nearest production is from Miocene on Green Canyon Block 562 east.

16 Anadarko Petroleum Corp., The Woodlands, Texas, reports an oil discovery at its West Tonga prospect on Green Canyon Block 726. The #1 (BP2) OCS G24179 is in 4,700 ft. of water and reached a total depth 25,680 ft. The well discovered 350 ft. of net oil pay in three high-quality Miocene sands. Nearest recovery comes from Ticonderoga Field on Block 768, about nine miles west of Tonga.

17 An offshore Louisiana wildcat is slated for the northwest quadrant of Main Pass Block 233. Remington Oil and Gas Corp. will drill #1 OCS G23988 in 185 ft. of water. In equal partnership with Remington, Magnum Hunter has development plans for Main Pass blocks 211, 232 and 241. The companies secured rights to the blocks for a combined $1.5 million in March 2001. Nearest recovery is more than two miles southeast in Main Pass Block 267 Field.

18 Natchez, Miss.-based Belle Exploration Inc. will drill #1 Houge Estate B1 in north Louisiana’s Concordia Parish. The 6,975-ft. wildcat will target Wilcox in Section 66-5n-9e. Two-well Glasscock Island Field is more than half a mile southeast.

19 A 4,900-ft. test has been slated by Natchez, Miss.-based Allen Operating Co. Inc. for Section 25-1n-6e in central Louisiana’s Avoyelles Parish. The #1 Bordelon 25 is 1.5 miles southeast of nearest drilling and another 3.5 miles from nearest production at Lake Roseau Field. Shallow production comes from Bayou Des Lance Field about nine miles northwest. Online since 1990, this field has recovered 961,796 bbl. of crude, primarily from Sparta at 4,900 ft.
