1 J-OB Operating Co., Shreveport, La., will test a remote location in southeastern Lamar County, Texas (RRC 5), at its #1 Eatherly wildcat. The test is scheduled to 5,900 ft. in the Joseph Houndshell Survey, A-394. The site is within a mile of an abandoned well, but nearest production is 8.5 miles south-southwest at the #2 V.R. Young wildcat drilled to 7,100 ft. in 1960. That well flowed 1.2 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Cretaceous perforations between 6,918-20 ft. The discovery never made it to production. Closest production from a similar depth is a Cotton Valley well almost 10 miles to the east-southeast. 2 AC Exploration LLC, Houston, will drill an apparent Cotton Valley exploratory test in southwestern Shelby County about .75 miles east of the Nacogdoches County boundary. The company's #2 Hancock is scheduled to 11,500 ft. in H. Byfield Survey, A-39. The test is a west-northwest offset to a Pettet well in Stockman South Field that tested 1.5 million cu. ft. of gas daily from perforations between 7,536 and 7,542 ft. Nearest production from a similar depth is in Stockman Field, a mile and a quarter to the north. There, the #1 Samford tested for 1.28 million cu. ft. of gas, 13 bbl. of condensate and 120 bbl. of water a day from Cotton Valley perforations between 10,084 and 10,684 ft., according to IHS Energy. 3 Continuing a wildcat program in East Texas, Sonerra Resources Corp., Nacogdoches, Texas, will drill the #1 Two Moons to 13,500 ft. in Jose Maria Mora Survey, A-827, in the Kendrick Field area in the eastern part of Nacogdoches County (RRC 6). The company completed a 14,200-ft. horizontal well about 1.75 miles north-northwest, the #1 Night Spirit, which tested 3.78 million cu. ft. of gas with 163 bbl. of water a day from an openhole James Lime section between 8,485 and 14,200 ft. Sonerra ran the tests through a 15/64-in. choke with 3,015 psi of flowing tubing pressure. It has completed six other horizontal wells in the area. 4 A Woodbine wildcat will be directionally drilled to 14,600 ft. total depth more than 2 miles southwest of Woodville in south-central Tyler County, Texas (RRC 3). BWOC Inc., Bryan, Texas, will drill the #1 Lumberjack in Section 3, I&GN RR Co. Survey, A-394. The well is 2 miles southwest of the nearest producer. There the #1 C.L. Cruse tested for 823,000 cu. ft. of gas a day from Woodbine perforations between 13,814-50 ft. The company has permitted two additional wildcats in the area, one a mile to the northeast and the other a southwest offset to that well. 5 Newfield Exploration Co., Houston, permitted an 18,500-ft. wildcat more than 4 miles northwest of Wharton in Wharton County, Texas (RRC 3). The #1 Hite will be in Robert Kuykendall Survey, A-40. The #1 Heyne Estate Gas Unit in Spanish Camp South Field, less than a quarter-mile north-northeast, is the closest production. That well tested for 665,000 cu. ft. of gas a day through Frio perforations from 3,953-55 ft. and recovered 15.65 million cu. ft. of gas during its 3 months on line in 1992. In the deeper Wilcox, Newfield completed the #6 Peach Creek Gas Unit about a mile and a half west-northwest of the new test. That Dynamic Field well tested for 10.98 million cu. ft. of gas, 9 bbl. of condensate and 64 bbl. of water a day through perforations between 15,707-87 ft. The well has given up 2.74 billion cu. ft. of gas, 3,319 bbl. of condensate and 12,979 bbl. of water from 2004 until September last year. 6 Zavala County, Texas (RRC 1), will host a wildcat drilled by Property Development Group Inc., Austin. The company will drill its #1 McCarty more than 4 miles southwest of the Batesville city limit in AB&M Survey, A-1291. The test is scheduled to 4,300 ft. The nearest comparable production is 1.75 miles to the west-southwest in Independence Field, where the #1 J.R. Raine tested at 52 bbl. of oil, 16,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 4 bbl. of water a day from San Miguel perforations between 3,834-54 ft. 7 Manti Operating Co., Corpus Christi, Texas, completed a Wilcox discovery as part of its campaign in northeastern McMullen County, Texas (RRC 1). The #1 Powers-Swaim Unit is 5 miles north of Tilden in Section 68, BS&F Survey, A-637. It tested at 121 bbl. of oil, 46,000 cu. ft. of gas and 166 bbl. of water daily through perforations between 5,646-49 ft. through a 14/64-in. choke with 393 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The well is nearly 2 miles north-northeast of a Manti dry hole and 2.25 miles north of the company's #3 Double "K". That well flowed 151 bbl. of oil and 25,000 cu. ft. a day from Wilcox, according to IHS Energy. 8 Alamo Operating Co. LC, San Antonio, Texas, plans a look at Miocene at 4,200 ft at its #1 Anico wildcat in Pedro Garcia Survey, A-16, in south-central Calhoun County, Texas (RRC 2). The well is 2.5 miles northwest of the Gulf of Mexico. The nearest production is more than a mile and a half to the southeast in La Salle Ranch Field. There, the #3 American National Insurance well tested for 12.7 million cu. ft. of gas from Frio from 8,295 to 8,314 ft. The closest Miocene production is more than 3.5 miles to the northeast in Powderhorn South Field. 9 Wilcox is the apparent target for the #1 Killam & Hurd Fee "1501" wildcat scheduled by Killam Oil Co. Ltd., Laredo, Texas. The well is almost 4 miles northeast of Laredo in HE &WT RR Co. Survey, A-1469, in Webb County, Texas (RRC 1). The nearest Wilcox production is 1.25 miles to the west-northwest, where the company's #3 Killam & Hurd Fee 1200 in Umbrella North Field tested for 2.28 million cu. ft. of gas, 21 bbl. of condensate and 100 bbl. of water a day. 10 Houston-based The Houston Exploration Co. has an apparent Vicksburg wildcat in its plans with the #1 C.M. Guerra in Juan Jose Balli Survey, A-290, nearly 6.5 miles west of the Kenedy County boundary in Brooks County, Texas (RRC 4). The company plans to drill to 16,500 ft. The closest production to the well is about 3 miles west-northwest in Los Indios Field, where the #1 D.V. Guerra tested at 640,000 cu. ft. of gas a day in 1983 from Vicksburg. 11 Pioneer Natural Resources USA Inc., Irving, Texas, scheduled its first wildcat on its Antigua prospect in Brazos Block 397 off the Texas coast. The company will drill the #1 OCS-G-23160 in 80 ft. of water. Pioneer may drill three wells in the tract from two surface locations. Previous production from the block was in the closest well in Brazos Block 397 Field, which produced 8.35 billion cu. ft of gas, 9,699 bbl. of condensate and 526,396 bbl. of water from Middle Miocene between 1992 and 1995. 12 An offshore Louisiana discovery tested for about 7 million cu. ft. of gas and 1,000 bbl. of condensate in the eastern half of South Marsh Island Block 116 in the Gulf of Mexico for Remington Oil & Gas Corp., Dallas. The company will build a flow line and umbilical to produce the subsea #1 OCS-G-26007 well to a nearby platform, with first production slated in the second quarter of 2006. 13 Rising Star Energy LLC, Dallas, plans a Cotton Valley test about 2 miles northwest of Stonewall in southern Caddo Parish, northern Louisiana. The company will drill the #1 Copeland "12" to 11,000 ft. in Section 12-15n-15w. This will be the company's fourth wildcat in the area. The #1 Williams "22" is in Section 22 of the same township. Some 3.5 miles to the northeast in Section 1, it drilled the #1 Clingman "1," and it drilled the #1 Hunter "26" in Section 26. Details were not available, according to IHS Energy. 14 Brammer Engineering Inc., Shreveport, La., has scheduled a wildcat to Wilcox at 6,500 ft. The #1 La Bokay "15" is in Section 15-5n-9w in Sabine Parish, La., about 2.5 miles west of the Natchitoches Parish boundary. 15 South Louisiana's St. Bernard Parish will host the #1 State Lease 18643 wildcat planned by The Meridian Resource & Exploration Co., Houston, as one segment of its exploration program in the area around Bayou Biloxi Field in the northern part of the parish. The well is scheduled to 6,800 ft. in Section 33-11s-17e. Meridian has several other wells in the area. It also scheduled a directional wildcat a mile south of the new well and another well 5 miles to the east-southeast. The nearest production comes from Bayou Biloxi Field. In that field, the #1 Biloxi Marsh Lands "18," drilled in 2003 by Meridian, tested at 16.21 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Critellaria I and has produced more than 6.55 billion cu. ft. of gas, 541 bbl. of condensate and 3,934 bbl. of water since that time. 16 Cimarex Energy Co., Denver, tested a discovery in Jefferson Davis County, Miss., for 207 bbl. of oil and 129,000 cu. ft. of gas a day through a 16/64-in. choke from Booth perforations between 16,628-44 ft. with 373 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The #1 Meritage is in Section 15-6n-18w, more than 3 miles north of the Marion County boundary line. The new well is immediately west of a Vintage Field well completed last September by Cimarex. That well, the #1 Merlot, was tested for 4.7 million cu. ft. of gas, 543 bbl. of condensate and 30 bbl. of water a day from Harper (Hosston) perforations between 16,390 and 16,424 ft. It has produced 214.46 million cu. ft. of gas, 20,290 bbl. of condensate and 1,033 bbl. of water since its discovery, according to IHS Energy.
