The nearest production is 1.5 miles southwest in Red Springs Field, where the #1 H.S. Chambers tested for 1.06 million cu. ft. of gas a day from an openhole interval between 9,730-64 ft. 2 Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co. LP, Houston, plans a wildcat to 14,500 ft. more than two miles west of Hearne in Robertson County, Texas (RRC 5). The company's #1 N.R. Lutz will be drilled in George Antonio Nixon Survey, A-31. The nearest production is in the same survey more than three miles south-southwest. There, the dual-lateral 33 Cotropia-Ferrara Unit was completed in Austin Chalk from 6,098 to 11,417 ft. in one lateral and 6,103 to 11,460 ft. in the other. The nearest production from a similar depth is a Cotton Valley producer more than six miles south, according to IHS Energy. 3 Duncan Oil Inc., Denver, completed two discoveries for a combined 2.22 million cu. ft. of gas just outside the Port Arthur city limits in Jefferson County, Texas, (RRC 3) and 2.5 miles west of the Louisiana border. The company's #1 Iles et al. tested for 713,000 cu. ft. of gas and two bbl. of condensate a day from Miocene perforations between 8,724 ft. on a 9/62-in. choke with 2,532 psi of flowing tubing pressure. Less than two miles southeast, also in the John McGaffey Survey, A-167, the company's #1 South Texas Land LP et al. tested at 1.51 million cu. ft. of gas a day from a Miocene interval between 9,571-79 ft. through a 12/64-in. choke with 1,715 psi of flowing tubing pressure. 4 A discovery testing at 4.6 million cu. ft. of gas, seven bbl. of condensate and 117 bbl. of water a day rewarded efforts by El Paso Production Oil & Gas Co., Houston, in Joseph Bishop Survey, A-115, in southwestern Matagorda County, Texas (RRC 3). The #1 Mad Island Unit "1" directional well found production from Textularia mississippiensis perforations between 17,619 and 20,428 ft., IHS Energy says. True vertical depth was 18,195 ft. Tests were taken through a 9/64-in. choke with 7,992 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The company plans to drill the #2 Mad Island from the same location. The nearest production from zones below 15,000 ft. is in Matagorda Bay some 5.5 miles south-southwest. There, a Lower Frio well has produced 487.71 million cu. ft. of gas, 1,629 bbl. of condensate and 18,497 bbl. of water from perforations between 15,545-85 ft. in one year online. 5 Manti Resources Inc., Corpus Christi, tested a discovery in northern McMullen County, Texas, (RRC 1) about 1.5 miles south of the Atascosa County boundary from 156 bbl. of oil and 33,000 cu. ft. of gas a day. The company's #1 Kassner in Section 959, George Elliott Survey, A-181, produced through a 14.64-in. choke with 213 psi of flowing tubing pressure from Wilcox perforations between 5,385-94 ft. The nearest production from a similar depth is 0.5-mile north in the same section, where the #4-A Victor Houston tapped Wilcox for 65 bbl. of oil and 34,000 cu. ft. of gas. 6 Production was reestablished in Ruidoso Field in Goliad County, Texas, (RRC 2) when Erskine Energy LLC, Houston, completed its #1 Simmons Unit more than 10 miles northwest of the town of Goliad. The well tested at 2.92 million cu. ft. of gas, 23 bbl. of condensate and 78 bbl. of water a day in Jose Maria Mancha Survey, A-203. The production came from Wilcox between 12,768-884 ft. through an 18/64-in. choke with 2,038 psi of flowing casing pressure. The directionally drilled well went to a true vertical depth of 15,735 ft. The #1 Simmons Unit is nearly two miles east-northeast of the only previous well in Ruidoso Field. That well, the #1 Parkhill Bednorz Unit, produced 73.14 million cu. ft. of gas and 784 bbl. of water from Wilcox perforations, says IHS Energy. 7 Central Nueces County, Texas, (RRC 4) gave Continental Trend Resources Inc., Enid, Okla., a Frio discovery about two miles west of Corpus Christi. The company's #1 Jalufka tested for 101 bbl. of oil and 315,000 cu. ft. of gas and 285 bbl. of water a day in BS&F Survey, A-960. The well produced from perforations between 8,504-74 ft. through a 48/64-in. choke with 160 psi of flowing tubing pressure in the 10,800-ft. well. The nearest Frio production is 1.5 miles east in Baldwin Field, where the #7 Cody flowed 1.16 million cu. ft. of gas and 12 bbl. of condensate. 8. EOG Resources Inc., Houston, drilled an apparent discovery with its #1 Progesso Deep Gas Unit in Juan Jose Balli Survey, A-54, near the inactive Progresso Field in southeastern Hidalgo County, Texas (RRC 4). The wildcat was drilled three miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border and tested 1.39 million cu. ft. of gas, 15 bbl. of condensate and eight bbl. of water a day from Middle Frio perforations between 10,716-56 ft. on a 12/64-in. choke with 2,065 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The company drilled the well to 17,000 ft. and plugged back to 11,090 ft. The two-well Progresso Field is 0.5-mile south-southeast. The Lower Frio discovery well in that field produced a cumulative 212.32 million cu. ft. of gas. 9 Arena Offshore LLC, Houston, plans two wildcats offshore Texas, both in 247 ft. of water in High Island Block A-346. The company will drill the wells from a common surface location in the southeast quarter of the block. The closest drilling was on a surface location for four wells and a sidetrack 0.33-mile north, but none of the wells produced. The nearest production is another two miles west-northwest at the single producer in Block A-345, according to IHS Energy. That well produced 3.7 billion cu. ft. of gas, 11,280 bbl. of condensate and 211,876 bbl. of water during one year online. 10 A remote wildcat in the southeast corner of Keathley Canyon Block 292 is called the Kaskida prospect by operator BP Exploration & Production Inc. The company will drill the #1 OCS-G-25795 in 5,973 ft. of water. BP proposed up to three wells at the site. The company also planned to drill up to three Kaskida wells in adjacent Block 336. The nearest drilling is in Block 511, some 15 miles south-southwest. That well was abandoned. 11 Rock Creek Oil Co., Holliday, Texas, will reenter an unsuccessful wildcat about 3.5 miles southeast of the Morehouse Parish boundary line in Richland Parish, La. The #1 E.N. Eppinette in Section 7-18n-8e is scheduled to Monroe Gas Rock at 2,725 ft. and attempt a completion in the shallower zone. The original well went to 9,137 ft. The nearest producer is in Rayville Field almost five miles southwest, where the #1 Dickens tested at 7 million cu. ft. of gas a day 12 Houston independent Burlington Resources Oil & Gas LP will test the Lower Cotton Valley with its 14,700-ft. #1Donner in Section 13-16n-2e in south-central Ouachita Parish, northern Louisiana. The nearest production from Cotton Valley is five miles east-northeast in Cheniere Creek Field, where the #1 SFS-Donner produced a cumulative 17.63 million cu. ft. of gas, 135 bbl. of condensate and 18,057 bbl. of water, IHS Energy says. 13 J-OB Operating Co., Shreveport, La., plans a 10,100-ft. wildcat to evaluate Marginulina texana in southwestern Livingston Parish, La. The company's #1 Weyerhaeuser will drill directionally in Section 4-8s-4e to a bottomhole location 0.25-mile northwest in the same section at a true vertical depth of 9,800 ft. The nearest production is in the single-well Colyell Field 1.25 miles south-southeast. That well, the #1 School Board, produced 50.94 million cu. ft. of gas, 576 bbl. of condensate and 303 bbl. of water from Frio perforations from 9,266-72 ft. in its three months of production. 14 A wildcat in western St. Bernard Parish, about a mile northeast of the Orleans Parish boundary in southern Louisiana, will look at Cristellaria "I" for Aspect Energy LLC, Denver. The company's #1 Violet Canal, in irregular Section 6-13s-13e, will be directionally drilled to 11,069 ft. at a bottomhole location 0.5-mile east-southeast in Section 7 at a vertical depth of 9,950 ft. At a similar depth four miles southeast, the #1 Robinson Estate in Kenilworth Field produced a cumulative 52.1 million cu. ft. of gas from Middle Miocene between 9,370-80 ft. 15 Key Production Inc., Tulsa, opened Don't Dome Field with a discovery in eastern Covington County, southern Mississippi. The company's #2 Speed tested at 909 bbl. of oil, 1.5 million cu. ft. of gas and seven bbl. of water a day from fractured Lower Hosston between 16,756-94 ft. The well, in Section 12-8n-15w, was tested through a 20/64-in. choke with 1,039 psi of flowing tubing pressure. Key drilled the well directionally to 18,200 ft. and bottomed 0.25-mile northeast. 16 Manti Resources Inc. plans a wildcat in southwestern Amite County, Miss. The company will drill its #1 Crosby Minerals Co. to 13,500 ft. in irregular Section 12-1n-3e. Manti also staked the #1 Neyland Jewel offset to the east in Section 11 to the same depth.
