Ballard's #1 (ST) Houston Ship Channel Unit, Richard & Robert Vince Survey, A-76, is producing through perforations between 11,134-12,062 ft. 6 Houston independent EnerVest Energy LP says the first well it drilled in North Broussard Field, Lafayette Parish, La., was highly successful. The #9 Baldwin Lumber Co. was completed flowing 2,200 bbl. of oil and 1.8 million cu. ft. of gas per day from Bol Mex 4 Sand. The well was drilled to a true vertical depth of 14,012 ft. and encountered three separate Bol Mex intervals with more than 40 ft. of total net pay. EnerVest notes it has a 75% working interest in the new producer. 7 The North Lake Pelto Field opener in Terrebonne Parish, La., was tested by Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. flowing 2.629 million cu. ft. of gas and 53 bbl. of condensate per day on a 14/64-in. choke from Miocene "L" Sand. Houston-based Cabot says the well is the 16,343-ft. #1 State Lease 16705 in Section 32-22s-18e. The company notes the "L" Sand is the deepest of 14 individual pay sands found in the well. Cabot, as operator, has a 75% working interest (59% net revenue interest) in the discovery, with Palace Exploration Co. holding the remaining 25%. 8 Meridian Resource Corp. has an indicated discovery at its #1 Hughes in the East Lake Arthur Field area of Jefferson Davis Parish, La., according to an announcement by the Houston-based company. The well, in Section 37-10s-3w, was drilled to a total depth of 19,079 ft. Meridian says it logged apparent pay in 240 gross ft. of deep Bol mex sands, or about 100 net ft. of pay, with no apparent water levels detected. The company holds a 90% working interest in the well and owns approximately 2,300 acres of leases in the prospect area. 9 Ocean Energy Inc., Houston, says it has entered into a Gulf of Mexico deepwater exploration agreement with Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Oklahoma City-based Kerr-McGee Corp. The agreement calls for the two companies to jointly explore and develop oil and gas prospects on 181 undeveloped deepwater blocks located within several proven trends. The exploration venture will encompass more than a million gross acres with Ocean holding an average working interest of approximately 43% in the blocks. Ocean will serve as operator for at least 25% of the first 15 exploratory tests in the multiyear drilling program. The first test under this agreement will be drilled on the Red Hawk Prospect on Garden Banks Block 877, with Kerr-McGee serving as operator. The two companies will each have a 50% interest in the prospect. 10 An exploratory well drilled by Cheniere Energy Inc. affiliate Gryphon Exploration Inc.-the #1 OCS-0508 on High Island Block 52-flowed at rates up to 10.3 million cu. ft. of gas and 240 bbl. of condensate per day.
