1 A Hidalgo County, Texas, Oligocene Vicksburg deeper-pool gas discovery made by College Station, Texas, independent Bexco Operating Inc. yielded 2.276 million cu. ft. of gas and 14 bbl. of water per day on a 24/64-in. choke at completion. According to IHS Energy Group, Bexco's #1 Hinojosa is producing through perforations at 8,311-31 ft. It's in Julian Farias Survey, A-62, a little more than 0.25-mile south of 6,940-ft. Oligocene Frio gas production in Rico Field. 2 Block 69 in Galveston Bay is the site of the EEX Operating LP #1 State Tract 69, a Chambers County, Texas, new-field opener completed flowing 8.205 million cu. ft. of gas, 86 bbl. of condensate and 10 bbl. of water per day. The San Antonio firm's discovery was tested on a 13/64-in. choke through perforations between 12,004-12,174 ft. in Vicksburg. 3 Another Vicksburg discovery is in Chambers County, this one a successful deeper-pool test a little more than 0.5-mile southeast of Frio oil and gas production in Double Bayou South Field. Vicksburg, perforated at 11,754-58 ft., gave up a flow of 651 bbl. of oil and 533,000 cu. ft. of gas per day at the #1 Jackson Heirs at completion by Samedan Oil Corp., Ardmore, Okla. The well, in Joseph Martin Survey, A-199, was tested on an 8/64-in. choke. 4 A flow of 23.695 million cu. ft. of gas and 256 bbl. of oil per day from Jurassic Cotton Valley Lime has been credited to the Clayton Williams Energy Inc. #2 Lee Fazzino Unit, the confirmation of the opener of Fazzino Field in Robertson County, Texas. The confirmation was tested on a 17/64-in. choke through perforations between 15,828-16,004 ft. It's nearly a mile south-southwest of the Midland, Texas-based company's #1 Lee Fazzino Unit discovery that's producing from 15,470-16,046 ft. Both wells are in George Antonio Nixon Survey, A-31. 5 Land & Natural Resources Development Inc., Tuscaloosa, Ala., has completed an Upper Cretaceous Lower Tuscaloosa discovery that opened Church Creek Oil Field in St. Helena Parish, La. The Southeastern Oil Review reports the #1 Lucy Lee, irregular Section 50-1s-5e, flowed 291 bbl. of oil, 662,000 cu. ft. of gas and 220 bbl. of water per day on a 14/64-in. choke from 12,713-19 ft. in the first sand of Lower Tuscaloosa. The well, six miles north of Joseph Branch and Greensburg fields, is a cooperative effort with Ned Dewey and Maxy Oil & Gas Ltd. 6 Three development high-volume oil wells were recently completed in as many fields in Louisiana. Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc., Houston, reports its #2 Louisiana Delta Farms, in Section 45-17s-21e, Lafourche Parish, was tested at a gross rate of 1,464 bbl. of oil and 3.8 million cu. ft. of gas (12.584 million cu. ft. of gas equivalent) per day from a 15-ft. interval in an unreported pay. Pipe is set at 14,150 ft. at the 14,921-ft. LaRose Field well. Carrizo is the operator, with a 40% working interest. IHS Energy Group reports Petro-Hunt LLC, Brandon, Miss., recorded a flow of 4,020 bbl. of oil and 2.966 million cu. ft. of gas per day at the #1 R. Crochet, in Section 50-12s-13e, Grand Bayou Field, Assumption Parish. The well was tested on an 18/64-in. choke from 18,364-18,406 ft. in Planulina. IHS also reports on a Cibicides hazzardi producer in Bayou Sorrel Field-the #1 EEX Corp.-completed by Lafayette, La., independent PetroQuest Energy LLC, flowing 926 bbl. of oil and 1.474 million cu. ft. of gas per day. The company perforated at 13,400-26 ft. and tested on a 12/64-in. choke at the well, drilled in irregular Section 108-10s-10e, Iberville Parish. 7 Vernon Field in Louisiana's Jackson Parish is the location of a development gas well completed by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. flowing 11.396 million cu. ft. of gas, one bbl. of condensate and 475 bbl. of water per day. The Woodlands, Texas, firm's #1-Alt Willamette 11, Section 1-16n-2w, yielded the flow on a 23/64-in. choke from Lower Cotton Valley, perforated between 11,936-13,818 ft. Pipe is set at 13,996 ft.-four ft. off bottom. Nearly 10 miles northwest of Vernon Field, Anadarko has started drilling the #1 Harris 19, a 16,000-ft. wildcat in Section 19-17n-4w, Bienville Parish. 8 Energy Resource Technology, Houston, a subsidiary of Cal Dive International Inc., has completed the #1 OCS-G-21586 as the first producer on East Cameron Block 374 in the Gulf of Mexico. The well, in 425 ft. of water, initially was tested for a combined rate of 23 million cu. ft. of gas per day from three zones. With production commingled from the lower two zones, it currently yields 15.5 million cu. ft. of gas and 75 bbl. of oil per day. 9 According to IHS Energy Group, Remington Oil and Gas Corp., Dallas, has tested a discovery on West Cameron Block 426 flowing 9 million cu. ft. of gas equivalent per day. Located in the southwestern portion of the tract, the #1 OCS-G-22553 was drilled in 102 ft. of water. The lease was acquired by equal partners Remington and Magnum Hunter Production Inc., Irving, Texas, at OCS Sale 178-1, held early last year. 10 Shell Exploration & Production Co. and equal working-interest owners, BP and ChevronTexaco, say they have made a deepwater discovery at the Great White prospect on Alaminos Canyon Block 857. Operated by Shell, the #1 OCS-G-17565 was drilled to a true vertical depth of 19,907 ft. in 8,009 ft. of water. Six Alaminos Canyon blocks are held in the Great White area by some or all of the working-interest owners. The blocks-813, 814, 857,858, 900 and 901-are in 7,500 ft. to 9,500 ft. of water. Shell has also confirmed it encountered in excess of 535 vertical net ft. of sands, including both exploratory sections and known producing-field pays, at the #2 OCS-G-7962 at its Deimos prospect on Mississippi Canyon Block 806. Shell, as operator, has a 72% interest in the prospect and BP has the remaining 28%. The prospect is in about 3,000 ft. of water. Deimos is adjacent to the huge Mars discovery, which has been producing from a Shell-operated tension-leg platform since 1996. Shell says it has confirmed about 2 billion bbl. so far in Mars Basin, with developments and discoveries such as Mars, Ursa, Crosby, Europa, King, Princess and Deimos. 11 Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy Corp. has entered into an agreement to jointly participate with ChevronTexaco in a deepwater exploration program in the Gulf of Mexico. The first test in the program-the Sierra prospect on Atwater Valley Block 187-is now under way. Under terms of the agreement, Devon will participate in a four-well drilling program on a promoted basis. In exchange, Devon will earn a 25% working interest in 71 ChevronTexaco deepwater blocks. So far, 14 exploratory prospects have been identified on the joint-venture acreage. Each of the 14 prospects is in one of Devon's deepwater focus areas-the Miocene Trend in Mississippi Canyon and Atwater Valley, the Western Fold Belt in Alaminos Canyon or the Walker Ridge Fold Belt. The drilling wildcat, operated by ChevronTexaco, is the #1 OCS-G-16870, in 4,058 ft. of water. It's a subsalt test with a target depth of 26,000 ft. 12 Also in the Atwater Valley area, IHS Energy Group reports Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp., Oklahoma City, and Marathon Oil Co., Houston, are each drilling a wildcat, while Anadarko Petroleum Corp. plans to drill as many as 10 wildcats on the Jubilee West prospect. Kerr-McGee's venture is the #1 OCS-G-16890 on Block 261 in 8,334 ft. of water, while the Marathon test is the #1 OCS-G-15632 on Block 489 in 4,584 ft. of water. The Jubilee West is made up of blocks 305 and 349. Anadarko plans to drill up to five tests on each block, in 8,544 ft. to 8,750 ft. of water. 13 In Mississippi's Covington County, Lower Cretaceous Hosston gave up a flow of 499 bbl. of oil and 901,000 cu. ft. of gas per day at a well completed by Key Production Co. Inc. on the west flank of Eminence Dome Field. The Southeastern Oil Review reports the New Orleans firm's #1 Jackie Everett, Section 5-7n-14w, was tested on a 14/64-in. choke through a series of perforations between 16,868-17,084 ft. 14 TotalFinaElf E&P USA Inc., Houston, gauged a flow of 5.493 million cu. ft. of gas and two bbl. of water per day from Cambro-Ordovician Knox at the #1 Hawkins 20-3 in Section 20-19n-12e, Oktibbeha County, Miss. Located on the west flank of Maben Field, the well yielded the flow on an 11/64-in. choke. The Southeastern Oil Review reports perforations are between 14,740-15,054 ft. and 15,337-16,133 ft.
