ENI Congo SA, an affiliate of ENI SpA, Rome, (NYSE: E) has closed its acquisition of interest in two fields and a production concession in the Congo from Maurel & Prom, Paris, (Paris: MAU) for US$1.4 billion. The assets include a 48.6% interest in the M'Boundi Field, a 66% interest in the Kouakouala A Field and a 50% interest in the Kouilou exploration permit. Maurel & Prom will retain a 15% interest in the Kouilou permit. Net production in the M'Boundi Field is expected to be 17,000 barrels of oil per day. Proved reserves in the field are 1.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent originally in place.
