1 Crosby's Creek Oil & Gas LLC, Ridgeland, Miss., completed a Smackover discovery in southern Alabama's Choctaw County. The #1 Turner 34-8 is in Section 34-9n-4w and tested flowing 1.66 million cu. ft. of gas, 263 bbl. of 56-gravity condensate and 4 bbl. of water through perforations at 14,754-72 ft. The Black Warrior Basin venture had flowing tubing pressure gauged at 2,164 psi on a 14/64-in. choke. Comparable production is over two miles northwest in Zion Chapel Field, which was online from 1976 to 1986 and produced 381,503 bbl. of crude, 752.81 million cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 81,044 bbl. of water.



2 Midroc Operating Co., Dallas, permitted a Smackover wildcat in northeastern Alabama's Escambia County. It will drill #10-9 Cedar Creek Land & Timber some 1.75 miles south of the Conecuh County line. The well will reach total depth of 12,500 ft. in Section 10-3n-12e. Smackover recovery is within eight miles. Conecuh County's Little Cedar Creek Field is some 7.75 miles north-northwest. Midroc completed its #2 Cedar Creek Land & Timber 19-2 last month. Initial potential at the 12,000-ft. well was 107 bbl. of crude and 79,000 cu. ft. of gas with flowing tubing pressure at 140 psi gauged on a 20/64-in. choke. Brought onstream in 1994, Little Cedar Creek Field produced 3.76 million bbl. of crude, 3.26 billion cu. ft. of gas and 10,532 bbl. of water solely from the Smackover.



3 Merit Energy Co., Dallas, scheduled two wildcats for Michigan's Kalkaska County, both in Section 19-28n-5w about 8.4 miles southeast of Mancelona. Both wells will target oil and gas in Niagaran. Blue Lake Field produces from Niagaran about 0.10 mile north.



4 Meridian Production Services Inc., Haslett, Mich., staked a horizontal wildcat in southeastern Michigan. The #1-31 HD1 White, Goetz & Walter Unit will target Trenton in Section 31-7s-6e, Summerfield Township, about 3.5 miles south of Deerfield in Monroe County. Summerfield Field is a mile north. Another Trenton pool, Deerfield Field, is about six miles north.



5 MDM Energy Inc., Addison, Texas, scheduled a wildcat in the nonproducing area of northwestern Illinois Basin, some two miles southeast of Dalton City. The Moultrie County venture is in Section 4-14n-4e. The #1A Stables will target Devonian at 3,000 ft. In 1991, the Dalton City Field opener was tested about two miles north, although no subsequent production was reported. The closest recovery is in Oakley Field about 12 miles north-northwest.



6 RK Petroleum Corp., Midland, Texas, slated a Silurian wildcat in western Cumberland County, Illinois about six miles southeast of Neoga. The #1 Jess is in Section 36-10n-7e and will drill to 3,800 ft. Closest production is almost three miles southwest at one-well Rosalyn West Field. Completed in 1992, #2-10 McClain pumped 32 bbl. of oil and 47 bbl. of water a day through perforations in the Geneva. The discovery produced 21,000 bbl. of oil before it was abandoned last year. Neoga Field is 4.5 miles west. Nearest production is less than six miles in Lillyville North Field, a multi-pay accumulation discovered in 1974, which has produced about 197,000 bbl. of oil from six wells. Two wells are still active and averaging about 10 bbl. of oil a day.



7 Aurora Energy Ltd., Traverse City, Mich., will drill #D3-6 H.D. Romas in Section 6-11n-6w, Clay County, about 2.3 miles west of Center Point, Ind. The 1,600-ft. wildcat will target gas in New Albany shale. Nearest recovery is 3.3 miles where Art Field produces from Devonian.



8 David R. Hill Inc., Byesville, Ohio, will drill #1 M. Rutter in Lot 13, North Kingsville Quad, about 1.5 miles of North Kingsville in Ohio's Ashtabula County. The wildcat will target oil and gas in Clinton sand at 3,000 ft. Nearest Clinton production is 1.6 miles north in an unnamed field.



9 Transcontinental Oil & Gas Inc., Aurora, Ohio, scheduled a 3,990-ft. remote wildcat in Summit County, Ohio. The #1 465 Properties is in Lot 85, Stow Township, Hudson Quad, about 2.5 miles northwest of Long Point. The well will target oil and gas in Clinton sand about 18.1 miles from Pontiac, which produces from Pennsylvanian.



10 Nornew Inc., James­town, N.Y., plans a 5,010-ft. wildcat in Chenango County, N.Y. The #2H Anderson will target gas in Herkimer and Oneida. The well is in Section G, Earlville Quad, Smyrna Township. Information on nearby production was unavailable.



11 Petroedge Resources WV LLC, Houston, plans to drill two wildcats in Tioga County, N.Y., to evaluate gas in Marcellus shale. The #1 Donnelly will reach total depth of 4,156 ft. in Section E, Oswego Quad, Nichols Township, about 3.5 miles southwest of Oswego. The #1 Banas, a 4,585-ft. well, is in Section D, Apalachin Quad some 3.3 miles west of Apalachin. Stagecoach Field produces from Heldenburg some 4.1 miles north of the first site and about 1.8 miles northwest of the second.



12 Great Lakes Energy Partners LLC, Canonsburg, Pa., slated an 8,000-ft. wildcat in Section 5, Waterville Quad, Lycoming County, Pa., about 5.9 miles northwest of Salladasburg. The well will target gas in Upper Devonian. Nearest recovery is about 4.3 miles north in Salladasburg Field, which produces from Huntersville. Great Lakes is a unit of Range Resources, Fort Worth, Texas.



13 Kriebel Minerals Inc., Clarion, Pa., plans a 5,500-ft. wildcat in Armstrong County, Pa. It will drill #2 State Game Lands 247A-07 in Section 8, Kittanning Quad, North Buffalo Township, some 2.9 miles west of Ford Borough. The well will target Upper Devonian to evaluate gas. An unnamed field produces from the Berea about 1.3 miles south.



14 Chesapeake Appalachia LLC, Oklahoma City, plans two wildcats in Buchanan County, Va. It will drill #826619 (PP-78) Buchanan Energy Co. LLC and #826620(PP-80) Buchanan Energy Co. LLC to total depths of 6,390 and 6,375 ft. respectively. Both wells are in Panther Quad over 10 miles southwest of Gilbert Creek and are targeting gas in Onondaga lime. Nearest production is some 1.5 miles north where Berea gas is produced in an unnamed field.



15 Clean Gas Inc., Hindman, Ky., will drill two 4,700-ft. wildcats in eastern Kentucky's Letcher County. The #211 Ratliff Howard Jr. & Emily and #213 Ratliff Howard Jr. & Emily will target Lower Devonian in Section 19-g-79e, some four miles northeast of Cumberland. An unnamed field produces from the Weir less than two miles away.



16 Rick-Rod Oil Inc., Columbia, Ky., plans three wildcats in Metcalfe County in central Kentucky. Two wells, #3 Scott Jack and #1 Coffee, Mickey & Shane, are in Section 22-h-47e, East Fork Quad, about eight miles north of Edmonton. Both wells are projected for 1,999 ft. targeting oil in Knox. Nearest recovery is 1.1 miles southwest where Caney Fork Field produces from Leipers. The #1 R Parnell Sandy is in Section 3-g-47e, East Fork Quad, some 6.8 miles north of Edmonton. Beechville Consolidated Field produces from Fort Payne about 1.5 miles northeast. Also in Metcalfe County, Young Oil Corp., Knob Lick, Ky., will drill its #29 Scott Jackie in Section 22-h-47e about 8.1 miles north of Edmonton, and is slated to target Knox at 2,000 ft.



17 Daugherty Petroleum Inc., a unit of NGAS Resources Inc., plans a 4,680-ft. Devonian wildcat in Claiborne County in eastern Tennessee. It will drill DPI #201 Ataya Hardwoods LLC in Section 15-a-69e, Forkridge Quad some 8.7 miles southwest of Middlesborough, Ky. Nearest recovery is about 2.9 miles southwest where Days Chappell Oil Field produces from Monteagle.
