1 The #1 Saxaphone 22 wildcat will reach for 11,000 ft. in Section 22-16s-5e in Clay County, Miss., for Anadarko Petroleum Corp., The Woodlands, Texas. The Paleozoic test in the Black Warrior Basin is about three miles west of the Monroe County boundary line. The closest Paleozoic production comes from the single-well Abbott Field some 5.5 miles northwest of the Anadarko well. The #1-A Steel 36-10 in that field tested initially for 2.3 million cu. ft. of gas in 1985. It produced a cumulative 13.09 billion cu. ft. of gas, 17,095 bbl. of condensate and 18,536 bbl. of water through 2004, according to IHS Inc.



2 Trinity Energy Group Inc., Troy, Ala., will search a nonproducing county in Alabama for Tuscaloosa gas. Pike County has only drawn 15 tests to date. Trinity will drill #2-3-1 Kevin Davis to 5,000 ft. in Section 2-11n-29e in the northwest corner of the county. The closest drilling is about 12 miles east-northeast, and the nearest production is nearly 60 miles southwest in the single-well Copeland South Creek Field in Covington County. In that field, #1 Smak-Murphy 13-4 pumped 207 bbl. of oil per day from Frisco City perforations between 11,240-50 ft.



3 Synergy Development Corp. of Okemos, Mich., is operator of a 4,208-ft. wildcat will evaluate Brown Niagaran in Section 14-2n-3e, Iosco Township, in Livingston County, southern Michigan. The #2-14 Marquette, six miles west-southwest of the town of Howell, is 1.5 miles southeast of abandoned Iosco 12-2n-3e Field's discovery well, #2-12 Scepka. That well cumulatively produced less than 700 bbl. of oil from Brown Niagaran perforations between 4,018-36 ft. in the year after August 1984.



4 Penn Virginia Oil & Gas Corp., Radnor, Pa., plans another in a series of remote wildcat wells in the northern Illinois Basin. The company's #1-R2 Jones is in Section 16-13n-9e in northeastern Coles County, Ill., about 4.5 miles north of Charleston. The well will evaluate Silurian to 2,385 ft. There is no production in the township. The nearest production is 3.5 miles southwest at another Penn Virginia well drilled to 1,100 ft. and completed in New Albany Shale between 895 and 905 ft. flowing 14,000 cu. ft. of gas and 16 bbl. of water a day, reports IHS Inc.



5 Aurora Energy Ltd., Traverse City, Mich., will drill a shallow wildcat to look for gas in New Albany Shale in Section 10-8n-6w in Greene County, Ind. The #C1-10H Dayhoff is projected to 1,600 ft. as a horizontal well. The new well is 4.2 miles northeast of Lone Tree Field, a Devonian producer, and 5.3 miles west of the town of Worthington, Ind. The operator previously had permitted the test as a vertical well.



6 A 1,050-ft. wildcat will look for natural gas in the Silurian formation for Quicksilver Resources Inc., Fort Worth, Texas. The #C2-3 Mathes is in Section 3-4s-3e in Harrison County, Ind. The well is 3.1 miles southwest of Corydon, Ind., and the closest production is 1.3 miles southwest in an unnamed field that produces from New Albany Shale.



7 Two wildcats are planned for Royalton Township, Broadview Heights Quad, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Ohio Valley Energy System Corp., Austintown, Ohio, will drill #1 A&E Miller to look at Clinton to 3,720 ft. in Lot 24, about 1.4 miles southwest of Broadview Heights and 1.3 miles south of an unnamed Clinton field. Bass Energy Co. Inc., Fairlawn, Ohio, will drill its #1 Cerino Unit in Lot 11 to Clinton at 3,500 ft. to look for oil and gas. That well is 1.6 miles north of North Royalton and 1.8 miles north of an unnamed Clinton field.



8 Ute Oil Co., Midland, Texas, plans a new-field wildcat in Section 28, Lee Township, Bergholz Quad, in Carroll County, Ohio. The CH-#1 Hinton will test gas potential in Pottsville Coal at a depth of 400 ft. The test is 4.1 miles northwest of Amsterdam, Ohio, and two miles east of an unnamed field that produces from Clinton.



9 Chemung County, N.Y., will host a wildcat planned by East Resources, Warrendale, Pa. The company will drill #1 Pedrick to look for gas to 11,580 ft. in the Black River Lime in Section I, Seeley Creek Quad, Southport Township. The well will be 1.5 miles south of Seeley Creek Field, a Black River pool, and 7.3 miles southwest of West Elmira, N.Y.



10 Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, plans a remote wildcat in Susquehanna County in northeastern Pennsylvania. The company will drill #1 Teel about seven miles south of Montrose in Union Township, Ralston Quad, to test Oriskany to 7,500 ft. The closest production comes from Stagecoach Field in Tioga County, N.Y., about 26 miles northwest. It produces from Oriskany and Helderberg.



11 Three wells have been permitted by Atlas Resources Inc., Moon Township, Pa., in Section H, Smithfield Quad, in Fayette County, Pa., to test Upper Devonian for gas to 5,000 ft. The #20 Robinson is in Georges Township, 1.3 miles east of an unnamed Bayard field and 2.1 miles south of Smithfield, Pa. The #23 Robinson in Springhill Township is 1.4 miles east of an unnamed Speechley field and 2.7 miles south of Smithfield. The #24 Robinson also is in Springhill Township. That well is 1.4 miles east of the unnamed Speechley field and 2.8 miles south of Smithfield.



12 Anja Resources, Salem, W.Va., will drill a pair of wildcats in Church District, Hundred Quad, Wetzel County, W.Va. According to IHS Inc., both wells are scheduled to Benson Sand to 4,200 ft. The company's #1A W.H. Hixenbaugh is 1.9 miles northeast of the town of Hundred and 1.2 miles northwest of an unnamed Pittsburgh Coal field. The #2A Hixenbaugh is 1.6 miles northeast of Hundred and 1.4 miles northwest of the unnamed Pittsburgh Coal field.



13 Roane County, W.Va., will host two Devonian Shale wildcats, both projected to 5,500 ft. in Geary District, Newton Quad. Reserve Oil & Gas Co. will drill #2 Ruby E. Carper 11 miles northeast of Clendenin, W.Va., and 1.4 miles north of Amma-Looneyville-Newton Field, a Lower Huron pool. The Spencer, W.Va., company will drill #1 Eldridge N. Engle 12 miles northeast of Clendenin and 1.5 miles northwest of Amma-Looneyville-Newton Field.



14 Equitable Production Co., Charleston, W.Va., will test Devonian for gas at 5,815 ft. with its V-#35940 H. William Lewis wildcat in Wise County, Va. The test is in Gladeville District, Pound Quad, 1.7 miles east of Roaring Fork Field, a Big Lime producer. The well is 4.8 miles northeast of the town of Wise.



15 J.D. Carty Resources Inc., Salyersville, Ky., put together a four-well wildcat program in Magoffin County in eastern Kentucky to Black River Lime to 3,999 ft. The JDR-#338 Wilbur & Teresa Holbrook will look for gas in Section 2-O-76e in Seitz Quad, 1.7 miles west of an unnamed Big Six field and 7.2 miles west of Salyersville, Ky. The other three wells are in Section 23-P-77e, Salyersville North Quad.



16 Four wildcats by two operators will look for Devonian pay in Letcher County in eastern Kentucky. Clean Gas Inc., Hindman, Ky., will drill three of the wells to 4,400 ft. The #175 Kentucky River Properties LLC is in Section 24-H-80e in Roxana Quad, 1.7 miles north of Blackey South Field, a Devonian producer, and 4.1 miles west of the town of Whitesburg.

The #174 Kentucky River Properties LLC, is in Section 25-H-80e in Roxana Quad, 1.5 miles north of the Devonian field and 4.4 miles west of Whitesburg.

The third well, #188 Kentucky River Properties LLC, also is in Section 25-H-80e, Roxana Quad. That well is 1.4 miles northeast of Big Sand Field, a Devonian pool, and 4.7 miles west of the town.

The fourth wildcat, #566725 Kentucky River Properties LLC, will be drilled by Equitable Production Co., Charleston, W.Va., to 4,700 ft. in Section 17-G-78e, Tilford Quad, 2.4 miles south of Big Sandy Field and 4.3 miles northwest of the town of Cumberland.



17 Wind Mill Oil & Gas LLC will drill #42 Koppers to 3,381 ft. to test the Chattanooga for gas in Campbell County in eastern Tennessee. The Miami, Fla., company will drill the well in Section 23-1s-65e, Ivydale Quad, 1.2 miles south of an unnamed field that produces from Monteagle and 3.1 miles north of Lafollette, Tenn.
