1 Denbury Onshore LLC, Plano, Texas, permitted a 16,800-ft. wildcat in northern Rankin County in central Mississippi. The #1 Pearl River "13-7" in Section 13-7n-4e will test Norphlet more than 5 miles west of the Scott County line. The nearest producer is 1.25 miles southwest in Pisgah Field, but that well was completed in Hosston between 10,165-75 ft. and no production records are available. Denbury drilled the closest Norphlet well, the #1 IP "15-4," in Section 15 of the same township and 2.5 miles to the west. That Goshen Springs Field well flowed 29.34 million cu. ft. of gas a day through perforations between 16,056 and 16,132 ft. Since 2003, that well has produced a cumulative 27.4 billion cu. ft. of gas and 81,015 bbl. of water. 2 A remote wildcat has been scheduled in northern St. Clair County, Ala., by Energen Resources Corp., Birmingham, Ala. There is no production in the county, and only 15 wells have been drilled there. Energen will drill the #101 Williams "29-12" in Section 29-14s-3e to 8,000 ft. The nearest test is more than 10 miles to the northeast. That well, the #1 Dawson "34-3" reached 5,970 ft. and tested 47,500 cu. ft. of gas per day. The nearest completion was 35 miles to the west-northwest in southern Cullman County. There, the #1 Allbritton/Crawford 8-4 tested 17,000 cu. ft of gas per day from Lower Tuscumbia between 1,195 and 1,218 ft. It was not brought on stream. The nearest production is from coalbed-methane wells some 40 miles southwest in Oak Grove Coal Degasification Field, IHS Energy said. 3 Cowen Oil & Gas LLC, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., staked its #1-17 State-Grant et al in Section 17-25n-12w, Grant Township, in southwestern Grand Traverse County, Mich. The well is on the northern reef trend about 7 miles northwest of Buckley in northwestern Michigan. Cowen plans to analyze Brown Niagaran to 5,662 ft. The two-well Grant 16-25n-12w Field is a mile to the east-northeast. That field had produced 368,500 bbl. of oil, 94.6 million cu. ft. of gas and 54,250 bbl. of water from Niagaran by the end of 2005. 4 McKinney Oil Producer Inc., Louisville, Ill., plans a wildcat nearly 3 miles from the nearest producer in Watson Field at its #1 Walk Comm in Section 2-7n-5e in Effingham County, Ill. Watson Field produces from Aux Vases, but McKinney will test Geneva to 3,800 ft. at its well. The test will be drilled 5.8 miles southwest of the town of Effingham, Ill. 5 Pennsylvanian is the target for a wildcat planned in western Lawrence County, Ill., by Barger Engineering Inc., Evansville, Ind. It will drill the #1 New in Section 32-4n-13w, slightly more than a half-mile north of Sumner. It will drill both the #1 New and the #2 New, a south offset, to 1,400 ft. The nearest commercial production is more than 3 miles to the southeast in Lawrence West Field. That field produced from Mississippian Paint Creek, Bethel, Aux Vases, O'Hara, Spar Mountain and McClosky zones between 2,000 and 2,250 ft., according to IHS Energy. 6 Traverse City, Mich.-based West Bay Exploration Co. will drill the #2-6 McKillip wildcat in Section 6-27n-6e in Wabash County, Ind. The 1,200-ft. test to evaluate Black River Lime oil potential is 1.3 miles northeast of Rich Valley Field, which produces from Trenton, and 5.6 miles west of Wabash, Ind. 7 Continental Resources, Enid, Okla., plans a wildcat in Section 34-6s-13w about 3.6 miles northeast of Mount Vernon in Posey County, Ind. The company's #1 Allyn Community is scheduled to test Warsaw to 3,999 ft. The closest production comes from Caborn West Field, an Aux Vases producer approximately 1.1 miles to the northeast. 8 Clinton Sand at 3,900 ft. is the objective for Gonzil Inc. at its #1 Schultz test in Solon Township, Twinsburg Quad, Tract 3, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The Canton, Ohio-based company will drill its wildcat 1.9 miles southeast of Solon and 1.3 miles from an unnamed field that produces from Red Clinton. 9 Hensoil Inc., Richardson, Texas, plans two wildcats in Trenton-Black River in Cayuga County, N.Y., as part of a series of wildcats in the county. The company's #1 Muncy will be drilled 9 miles west of Moravia in Section B, Venice Township, Genoa Quad, in the southern part of the county. The well is about 7 miles south of the Scipio Field discovery well, which was a 3,072-ft. gas well to Medina. The Trenton-Black River well is scheduled to 5,950 ft. The company also plans to drill the #1 Venice View Dairy to the same depth to test the Black River Lime in Section C, Venice Township, Genoa Quad. That well is 6.7 miles south of Scipio Field and 8.4 miles west of Moravia. Late in 2004, the company drilled a Trenton-Black River wildcat to 7,000 ft. about 6 miles west-northwest of Moravia. That was the #1 Rejman, Venice Township, Genoa Quad, but Hensoil is holding details on that well confidential. The company also drilled the #1 Carter in Scipio Township, Scipio Center Quad. That was a 6,500-ft. Trenton-Black River test. Again, no details were released. 10 Theresa at 6,100 ft. is the target for Ardent Resources Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa., as it searches for natural gas 5.1 miles southwest of Holland in Erie County, N.Y. The company's #1 M. Hannon wildcat is in Section A, Sardinia Township, Sardinia Quad. The wildcat is 2.8 miles north of Sardinia Field, a Grimsby producer. 11 Frederick Drilling & Sons, Tylersburg, Pa., plans a couple of wildcats, both to 4,000 ft. in Section D, Knox Quad, Lucinda Township in Clarion County, Pa. The company's #1 Turner-Bimber will evaluate Speechley for gas some 8.3 miles north of Clarion and 1.3 miles west of George Field, a Speechley reservoir. The other well, the #1 M G Higgins, will also look for Devonian gas. That well is 7.6 miles north of Clarion and 1.5 miles north of Shippenville Field, also a Speechley producer. 12 Two wells by different operators are on the wildcat list for Greene County, Pa. Mountain V Oil & Gas, Bridgeport, W.Va., will drill the #3-PO49 Rode to Mississippian at 5,000 ft. to look for gas. That well is in Section A, Gilmore Township, Wadestown Quad. The well is 8.8 miles west of Blacksville, W.Va., and 1.1 miles north of Maple-Wadestown Field, which gets its pay from Big Injun. The other well is the DD-#2 Pennsylvania Land Holding Corp. planned by Coal Gas Recovery LP, Waynesburg, Pa. The well will look for gas in Upper Devonian in Section A, Center Township, Oak Forest Quad, 5.6 miles southwest of Waynesburg, Pa. The closest production is from Upper Devonian in Waynesburg Field 2.5 miles to the northeast. 13 Hard Rock Exploration Co., Charleston, W.Va., will drill the #35 State of West Virginia wildcat 10.1 miles southwest of Reedy, W.Va., in Jackson County, W.Va. the well will test Devonian to 4,779 ft. The closest production to the wildcat is 1.1 miles southwest at an unnamed Devonian field, according to IHS Energy. 14 Active driller Daugherty Petroleum Inc., Lexington, Ky., a unit of NGAS Resources, plans three wildcats in Breckinridge County in western Kentucky, all to New Albian at 3,000 ft. The DPI-#2017-17 Homer & Ruby Aldridge and the DPI-#2016-17 Eugene & Sue Fentress both are in Custer Quad. The Aldridge well is 8.3 miles southeast of Hardinsburg and 9.2 miles northeast of an unnamed New Albany field. The Fentress well is 9.2 miles southeast of Hardinsburg and 10.3 miles northeast of the unnamed field. The third well is the DPI-#2018-17 Franklin C & Mary Sue Pile in Kingswood Quad. It is 8.7 miles southeast of Hardinsburg and 8.1 miles northeast of the unnamed field. 15 Two wildcats by different operators are scheduled in the same area of Bell County in eastern Kentucky. Forexco Inc., Greensboro, N.C., will drill the #1 Home Hunley to Devonian at 4,000 ft. in Section 20-C-72e, Varilla Quad, 10.1 miles southeast of Pineville and 1.6 miles southwest of an unnamed Waverly field. Daugherty Petroleum Inc. will drill the other wildcat, the #76 Begley Properties LLC, in Section 5-D-72e, Balkan Quad. That 4,900-ft. Lower Devonian well is 9.9 miles northeast of Pineville and 1.8 miles east of Kettle Island Field, a Clinton producer. 16 Outdoor Resources, Crossville Tenn., plans a wildcat to look for oil and gas to 2,000 ft. at its #1 Larry King well in Section 5-02s-54e, Riverton Quad, in Fentress County, in eastern Tennessee. The wellsite is 9.5 miles west of Jamestown and 1.6 miles northeast of an unnamed Trenton field. 17 Atlas America Inc., Moon Township, Pa., plans a wildcat well in Morgan County, Tenn., to look for oil and gas to a depth of 6,630 ft. The company's CC-#1049 Coal Creek Mining Manufacturing Co. is in Section 17-05s-62e, Petros Quad, some 6.5 miles northwest of Oliver Springs. The closest production comes from an unnamed Monteagle field 1.2 miles to the east.
