1 Northeastern Monroe County, Miss., is the location of a wildcat planned by Spooner Petroleum Co., Jackson. The company will drill its #1 Dabbs "10-13" in Section 10-13s-17w to 3,200 ft. More than a mile northeast, the #1 Dalrymple Unit "2-13" produced 612 bbl. of oil and 373 bbl. of water from Mississippian perforations between 2,249-55 ft. as the only well in Splunge South Field. 2 Spooner Petroleum Co., Jackson, Miss., will drill to Smackover at 14,167 ft. in its #1 Inco "24-5" wildcat in southern Choctaw County, Ala., in Section 24-11n-3w. The location is 1.33 miles north-northeast of Chappel Hill Field, where the #1 Bolinger "26-7" tested at 413 bbl. of oil from Smackover from 11,392 to 11,412 ft. That well produced a cumulative 315,653 bbl. of oil, 157.74 million cu. ft. of gas and 670,058 bbl. of water. Spooner abandoned a Smackover well about five miles southeast last April at a depth of 11,800 ft. 3 The northern reef trend is the target for Federated Oil & Gas Properties Inc., Traverse City, Mich., at its permitted #1-8 Carey in Section 8-25n-12w in Grant Township, southwestern Grand Traverse County, Mich. The well, about seven miles northwest of Buckley, will be drilled directionally to a bottomhole location in the same section. More than a mile southeast, the two-well Grant 16-25n-12w Field produced 268,500 bbl. of oil, 94.6 million cu. ft. of gas and 54,250 bbl. of water from Brown Niagaran reef through year-end 2004. The #1-8 Carey is almost 0.75-mile northwest of the #16-8 State-Grant & Karlin wildcat scheduled to Niagaran at 5,900 ft., but drilling has not yet started at that site. 4 Mount Pleasant, Mich., independent Muskegon Development Co. plans three exploratory tests to Dundee at 4,000 ft. in Isabella County in central Michigan. The company's #1-24 Hauck will be drilled in Section 24-15n-5w about a mile southwest of production from Dundee in Isabella Field. The company's #1-14 Pritchard is about 13 miles south-southwest in Section 14-13n-6w, Rolland Township. That well is 11 miles south-southwest of Beal City and 0.75-mile northwest of Dundee production from Rolland Field. The final well, the #1-32 Pederson, is seven miles west-southwest of Beal City in Section 32-15n-6w, Sherman Township. The nearest Dundee production from that test is 0.75-mile east in Sherman Field, according to IHS Energy. 5 Ronald G. Lockwood, Edinburg, Ill., independent, has permitted the #1-L C. Cousin wildcat in Sangamon County, Ill. The well in Section 2-14n-4w will evaluate Silurian potential for oil at 2,000 ft. The test is approximately 4.4 miles southeast of the town of Rochester and 1.2 miles southeast of New City Field, a Silurian pool. 6 Potential production through Salem at 3,999 ft. is the target for a wildcat scheduled by Brookston Resources Inc., Newburgh, Ind. It will use a company-owned rig to drill the #62-10 Prince et al. in Section 10-5s-8e in western White County, Ill., about a mile east of Enfield. The location is almost 0.75-mile north of abandoned producers in Enfield North Field, which has produced 1.18 million bbl. of oil, primarily from Aux Vases at 3,225 ft. In Section 26-3s-9e in the same county, Revelle Resources Inc., Algonquin, Ill., plans to drill its #1 Brent & Brooks York wildcat to 4,400 ft. in search of Warsaw oil. That well is more than a mile northeast of Goldengate Consolidated Field, a Warsaw reservoir, and 5.4 miles east of the town of Burnt Prairie, according to IHS Energy. 7 Quicksilver Resources Inc., Fort Worth, Texas, plans another five wildcats in its New Albany Shale campaign in Harrison County, Ind., The company plans to drill the #C4-28 H. Engelman and the #C4-28HD2 Engelman in Section 28-3s-3e. The latter borehole is a horizontal lateral to the former. Both wells are some 4.2 miles west of Corydon and 1.7 miles south of White Cloud Field, a New Albany pool. The company also plans to drill the #B3-33 H Taylor in Section 33-3s-3e some 2.7 miles southwest of Corydon North Field and 4.4 miles west of the town of Corydon. The company will drill a horizontal lateral from the same wellbore with a bottomhole location 2.6 miles southwest of Corydon North Field and 4.4 miles west of the town. The final well in the series is the #D4-10HD Fravel in Section 20-4s-3e. That horizontal well is 1.5 miles northeast of Dixie Field and four miles southwest of Corydon. 8 Coshocton, Ohio-based MFC Drilling Inc. brought in a discovery at its #1 Krauss Family LP well in Kingston Township, Olive Quad, in northeastern Delaware County, Ohio. The well, drilled five miles southwest of Marengo, tested for an initial potential of 90 bbl. of oil a day from the Ordovician Black River Group at 2,760 ft. The well reportedly blew out while drilling, according to IHS Energy. It is about 0.75-mile south of a Morrow County Consolidated Field well that produced 11,867 bbl. of oil and 4,755 bbl. of water from Upper Cambrian Trempealeau perforations between 3,064-95 ft. during the eight years it was online. 9 Fortuna Energy Inc., Horseheads, N.Y., a subsidiary of Talisman Energy Ltd., Calgary, will attempt to continue its string of successes in the Black River Lime in southern New York with the #1 Frost in Schuyler County. The wildcat will look for gas at 9,770 ft. in Section H, Bradford Quad, Orange Township, 8.3 miles north of the town of Painted Post. The well also is 1.8 miles south of an unnamed field that produces from the Tribes Hill formation, according to IHS Energy. 10 Two wildcats are in the works in Potter County in northern Pennsylvania. EOG Resources Inc., Houston, has permitted the #5 Clara Field well to look for Devonian gas at 3,800 ft. in Section H, Shinglehouse Quad, Pleasant Valley Township, more than a mile northeast of Clara Hill Field, an Upper Devonian producer, and 4.3 miles south of the town of Shinglehouse. Guardian Exploration LLC, Hunt, Texas, also will look for Devonian gas at its #YX-101 Yentzer. This 2,400-ft. well is in Section D, Coudersport Quad, Roulette Township, 7.9 miles northwest of Coudersport and 3.8 miles south of an unnamed Upper Devonian Field. 11 Allegheny County in southeastern Pennsylvania will host two wildcats, both to Devonian but at different depths. BLX Inc., Kittanning, Pa., will drill the #1-113 Alan George Soltis to 5,000 ft. in Section C, Kensington West, Frazer Township. The well is 2.1 miles west of the town of Tarentum and 1.8 miles west of Rural Field, an Upper Devonian pool. The other well is planned by Huntley & Huntley, Monroeville, Pa. The 4,000-ft. #2 O'Neill will be drilled in Section B, New Kensington West Quad, Frazer Township, about 3.3 miles north of Rural Field and two miles southeast of the town of Russelton. 12 Ross & Wharton, Coalton, W.Va., plans a new-field wildcat to Devonian Shale at 5,990 ft. in Sardis District, Wallace Quad, in Harrison County, W.Va. The well will be drilled seven miles southeast of the town of Smithfield and 1.9 miles southwest of Brown-Lumberport Field, a Gordon reservoir. 13 Base Petroleum Inc., South Charleston, W.Va., will drill two wildcats to check gas potential in Fifth Sand in Hamilton District, Little Birch Quad, in Nicholas County, W.Va. The #54 L'Engle is scheduled to 2,900 ft. some 10.3 miles south of the town of Sutton and 1.5 miles south of Ramp Run Field, which produces from Blue Monday. The #55 L'Engle will go to 2,863 ft. some 10.5 miles south of Sutton and 1.6 miles south of Ramp Run Field. 14 Two wildcats figure in the plans for J.D. Carty Resources Inc., Salyersville, Ky., both to Black River at 3,999 ft. in Magoffin County, Ky. The company's #7 Wishard Howard is in Section 8-N-77e in Salyersville South Quad, 1.7 miles northwest of Big Sandy Field, which produces from Big Six, and 8.4 miles southwest of Salyersville. The #1 Marvin Baily is in Section 7-O-77e in Seitz Quad, 1.2 miles northwest of an unnamed Corniferous field and 5.3 miles west of Salyersville. 15 Two wildcats to different objectives are planned for Owsley County, Ky. Frazier Oil, Salyersville, Ky., will drill the #1 Benny Gumm to Corniferous at 1,500 ft. in Section 11-L-69e, Sturgeon Quad, nearly 5.5 miles west of Booneville and three miles south of Ida May Field, a Corniferous pool. Abarta Oil & Gas, Pittsburgh, Pa., plans to drill the #1 H. Gay to Rose Hill at 2,500 ft. in Section 9-J-71e in Mistletoe Quad, more than a mile northwest of an unnamed Big Lime field and 12.3 miles south of Booneville. 16 Delta Producers Inc., Caryville, Tenn., will look for Chattanooga Shale gas at 4,445 ft. at its #18 Lindsay wildcat in Section 16-3s-64e, Jacksboro Quad, in Campbell County, Tenn. The well is 1.4 miles southwest of an unnamed Chattanooga field and 3.6 miles southwest of the town of Caryville, according to IHS Energy. 17 A new-field wildcat is in the planning stages by Atlas America Inc., Moon Township, Pa., to look at Sequatchie gas at 4,775 ft. in Anderson County, Tenn. The company's #1045 Coal Creek Mining & Manufacturing Co. is in Section 12-5s-62e, Duncan Flats Quad. It is 2.1 miles northeast of an unnamed Stone River field and seven miles north of Oliver Springs.
