Crescent Point Energy Corp. has shut-in its Kaybob Duvernay production due to ongoing wildfires that have also forced other Canadian E&Ps and midstream operators to shut in wells and shut down flows, the company said in a May 16 press release.
Crescent Point said a portion of production was recently reactivated in the prior week, but that the company would temporarily shut the remainder of its 45,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) in the Alberta, Canada, area as a precautionary measure due to changing wildfire conditions.
No damage has been reported to the company's assets.
“Crescent Point continues to work with local officials, regulators and industry partners to ensure everyone's safety in the area and plans to restart production once permitted to do so,” the company said in the release.
On May 15, Baytex Energy Corp. and other companies also reported disruptions. Baytex said it had safely evacuated affected personnel and shut-in production and operated infrastructure.
E&P Pipestone Energy Corp. also reported on May 15 that production was again shut down due to wildfires in close proximity to third-party processing facilities.
