Canadian Oil Sands Ltd., a subsidiary of Canadian Oil Sands Trust, Calgary, (Toronto: COS-UN) has acquired noncore Canadian oil-sands assets from Talisman Energy Inc., Calgary, (Toronto, NYSE: TLM) for C$475 million, including C$237.5 million in cash and 8.2 million units. The assets include Talisman's indirect 1.25% interest in the Syncrude joint venture near Fort McMurray, Alberta, with production of approximately 3,400 barrels of oil per day. The 1.25% interest is held through Talisman's ownership of limited partnership units in Canadian Oil Sands LP, which holds 5% of Canadian Oil Sand's interest in the venture.
