Exxon Corp. was the lead natural gas producer in the state of Texas in 1999, with average production of 778 million cubic feet (MMcf) per day, reports the Texas Railroad Commission. Rounding out the 1999 top 10 list of the largest Texas natural gas producers were Conoco Inc., 764 MMcf; Union Pacific Resources, 644 MMcf; Coastal Oil & Gas Corp., 512 MMcf; EOG Resources Inc., 406 MMcf; Texaco E&P Inc., 359 MMcf; Chevron U.S.A. Inc., 354 MMcf; Phillips Petroleum, 336 MMcf; Mobil Producing TX & NM, 312 MMcf; and Shell Western E&P Inc., 303 MMcf. Altura Energy Ltd. led oil production with an average 157,706-barrel-per-day output, which was 14% of Texas oil production in 1999. Completing the 1999 top 10 list of the largest oil producers in Texas were Exxon Corp., 62,918; Texaco E&P Inc., 44,290; Marathon Oil Co., 43,017; Mobil Producing TX & NM, 36,595; Amerada Hess Corp., 32,070; Chevron U.S.A.
