Devon Energy Corp. (NYSE: DVN) appointed Thomas L. Mitchell its chief financial officer and executive vice president, the company said Jan. 16. Mitchell replaces outgoing chief financial officer Jeff Agosta, who is pursuing other interests, the company added.
“We are excited to have Tom Mitchell join the Devon team,” said John Richels, president and CEO.
Mitchell has been in the oil and gas industry for more than 30 years. Most recently he was chief financial officer, vice president and director at Midstates Petroleum Company Inc. (NYSE: MPO), the company said. He “played an instrumental role” taking it public, Devon added. Mitchell also was chief financial officer at Noble Corp. (NYSE: NBL), from 2006 to 2011. Prior to that, worked at Apache Corp. (NYSE: APA), the company added.
“His 30-plus years in accounting and finance coupled with his extensive experience in oil and gas provide him with the ideal background to assume the role of CFO at Devon,” Richels added.
Mitchell has a BS degree in Accounting from Bob Jones University. He is an inactive CPA in Colorado, the company added.
Devon Energy is an Oklahoma City-based independent oil and gas E&P company.
