Apache Corp. (NYSE: APA) appointed Amy H. Nelson to its board of directors, the company said Feb. 10.

Nelson was vice president of private-equity firm SCF Partners Inc. prior to both founding Greenridge Advisors LLC and joining Apache, the company said. Greenridge Advisors is an energy services and equipment consulting firm, the company added. She also previously worked for Amoco Production Co. in planning and engineering, the company said.

"Amy's experience on the operating, strategic and financial sides of the oil and gas industry provides a strong basis to assess the opportunities and risks facing Apache," said Charles J. Pitman, chairman of the board's corporate governance and nominating committee.

Nelson holds bachelor's degrees in engineering and economics from Rice University and a master's in business administration from Harvard Business School.

Houston-based Apache Corp. is an oil and gas E&P company operating around the world.
