Kaes Van’t Hof, senior vice president of strategy and corporate development at Diamondback Energy Inc., is today’s Forty Under 40 featured honoree.
With Kaes watchful at the helm, Diamondback is hot on deals and there is also exciting buzz around a midstream subsidiary, Rattler.
“In the course of two weeks, our company was able to announce two trades which will transform Diamondback and catapult us into the large-cap E&P peer group,” Kaes said of Diamondback’s $1.25 billion acquisition of Ajax Resources and the $9.2 billion acquisition of Energen.
“Our focus now is going to be integrating those deals and continuing to execute at our best-in-class operating metrics,” continued Kaes, who also serves as president of Diamondback’s minerals-focused subsidiary Viper Energy Partners.
Prior to joining Diamondback, Kaes served as CEO for Bison Drilling and Field Services, where he led the Midland, Texas-based drilling company through the downturn.
In 2011, Kaes worked as an analyst at Wexford Capital LP and was responsible for developing operating models and business plans, including for Diamondback’s IPO.
He began his career in 2010 at Citigroup Global Markets following a stint as a professional tennis player.
