John Taplett, COO at OAG Analytics, is today’s Forty Under 40 featured honoree.
An energy investment banker and naval intelligence officer, John said he considers his greatest professional challenge to date to be projects he has worked on while at OAG.
OAG Analytics provides self-service machine learning for digital well planning by linking subsurface geologic data with production and completion design data to simulate and optimize well placement and design.
John said the challenge was “selling and then helping execute on the first paid artificial intelligence (AI) software implementation” that he was involved in at OAG.
“A few years ago, people asked the OAG team what it was that we were doing; then people shifted to asking us how we were doing it,” he said. “Now, we are thrilled and challenged by the avalanche of E&P companies who reach out and ask us to help them deploy now.”
