Description
Two Trenton exploratory tests have been permitted by Wellspring Holdings LLC in Fayette County, Ill. The Oblong, Ill.-based company’s #1 Brummet will be in Section 35-5n-1e and #2 Brummet will be drilled in Section 35. Both Illinois Basin wildcats have planned depths of 4,300 ft. Wildcats drilled earlier in this part of Fayette County were abandoned at depths ranging from 1,771-3,175 ft. Nearby production is about 4 miles to the southwest in Marion County in Patoka Field. Numerous Trenton oil wells have been drilled in the reservoir, which was opened in 1937. In 2017, the company completed #1 Armstrong, which is about 15 miles to the east in Section 25-4n-3e. The venture was abandoned at 3,976 ft in Lower Devonian, and some oil and gas shows were encountered at 2,500-15 ft in St. Louis.
