Description
Two horizontal discoveries in the southern Powder River Basin were reported by Chesapeake Operating Inc. in Section 7-34n-70w of Converse County, Wyo. The #7-34-70-14H Clausen USA A SX initially flowed 762 bbl of 41.6-degree-gravity oil, 1.092 MMcf of gas and 408 bbl of water per day from a horizontal lateral in Turner extending from 9,258 ft southeastward to 21,561 ft at a bottom-hole location in Section 20-34n-70w. The true vertical depth is 9,708 ft. It was tested on a 34/64-in. choke after 19-stage fracturing between 10,256 and 21,413 ft. From the same drillpad, #7-34-70-12H Clausen USA A SX is producing from Sussex and it initially flowed 600 bbl of 41.6-degree-gravity oil, 937 Mcf of gas and 616 bbl of water per day. It was tested on a 40/64-in. choke after 18-stage fracturing between 10,300 and 18,830 ft. The Sussex lateral extends from 9,094 ft to the southeast to 18,973 ft and it has a bottom-hole location in Section 18-34n-70w. The true vertical depth is 9,739 ft. Chesapeake is based in Oklahoma City.
