Rosehill Resources (NASDAQ: ROSE) said June 8 it tapped R. Craig Owen as its CFO. Owen joins the Houston-based company from Southwestern Energy Co. (NYSE: SWN), where he held the position of CFO since 2012.

Owens has more than 24 years of experience in the energy industry, including nearly nine years at Southwestern, according to the company release. His appointment will take effect June 26.

"We are excited with the opportunities we have in our premier Delaware Basin asset and Craig’s extensive financial and accounting leadership within the E&P sector will benefit Rosehill and help us execute our ongoing strategy," J.A. (Alan) Townsend, Rosehill Resources CEO, said in a statement.

Rosehill Resources, a pure-play with assets in the Delaware Basin core, is the result of the business combination of KLR Energy Acquisition Corp. and Tema Oil and Gas Co. that closed in April.

Southwestern Energy said June 8 it has engaged in a search to replace Owen. Jennifer Stewart, the company's senior vice president of tax and treasury, will fulfill the duties of CFO on an interim basis.

Prior to Southwestern, Owen was the controller, operations accounting at Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: APC) and has held various managerial and financial positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, ARCO Pipe Line Co. and Hilcorp Energy Co. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Tiffany Thom, Rosehill's interim CFO, will continue to assist the company as a consultant through a transition period.
