Description
Sklar Exploration Co., based in Shreveport, La., has started drilling an exploratory Norphlet test in Escambia County, Ala. IHS Markit reported that #1 Cedar Creek Land & Timber 14-9 is being directionally drilled in Section 13-3n-10e. It is expected to bottom within one-half mile to the southwest in Section 14. The proposed total depth is 13,713 ft, 13,422 ft true vertical. Sklar has a second Norphlet test planned to the south, #1 Cedar Creek Land & Timber 35-2, in Section 35-3n-10e. It will be directionally drilled to 13,789 ft and the planned true vertical depth is 13,736 ft. To date, Sklar’s drilling program in this part of Alabama has targeted the slightly shallower Smackover as part of Kirkland Field.
