Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Shell Oil Co. has permitted the first exploratory test on the company’s deepwater Circius prospect. The #1 OCS G35834 will be in the western half of Mississippi Canyon Block 767. According to Shell’s exploration plan, up to seven tests could be drilled on the previously undrilled tract. Area water depth is about 4,100 ft. Nearby production is at Shell’s Kaikias project, which is about 5 miles to the southeast of the Block 767 prospect. The Kaikias discovery was announced in 2014 at #1 (BP) OCS G34458 in Mississippi Canyon Block 812. The discovery well and the first appraisal test indicated more than 300 ft of net oil pay. The development potential of Kaikias could exceed 100 MMboe.
