Covington, La.-based LLOG Exploration, according to IHS Markit, has permitted a second test on the Buckskin Lower Tertiary project. The #3 OCS G25814 will be in Keathley Canyon Block 829. The offsetting #2 OCS G25814 was permitted in 2017. Area water depth is 6,600 ft. The Buckskin discovery on Keathley Canyon Block 872, #1 (BP) OCS G25823, hit more than 300 ft of net pay in Lower Tertiary zones. The 29,404-ft venture was drilled in 2009. Several appraisal tests were drilled by Chevron Corp. in the area, including Block 829. In 2016, Chevron designated LLOG as the operator of the Buckskin leases. LLOG plans to bring several wells online in the Buckskin area.
