Rosehill Resources Inc. (NASDAQ: ROSE) on Sept. 4 appointed the chairman of its board of directors, Gary C. Hanna, to also serve as the interim president and CEO of the company and its sole subsidiary, Rosehill Operating Co. LLC, effective immediately and until the search for a new president and CEO is complete.
Hanna succeeds J. A. (Alan) Townsend, the company’s prior president and CEO. The company announced Townsend’s retirement in April 2018.
“I know the company very well and am thrilled to assume the role of interim president and CEO,” Hanna said. “I look forward to working closely with the management team to help capitalize on the opportunities ahead.”
With 30 years of experience in the energy industry, Hanna has a proven track record of successfully leading exploration and production companies. Hanna previously served as the CEO of KLR Energy, one of the predecessors of the company, between September 2015 and April 2017. Hanna served as the CEO of EPL Oil & Gas Inc., a publicly-traded company that was acquired by Energy XXI in June 2014. Hanna is currently the chairman of the board of directors of Energy XXI Gulf Coast Inc., a position he has held since April 2018.
