PDC Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: PDCE) appointed David Honeyfield as CFO and senior vice president, effective Dec. 19. He will handle financial, accounting, and treasury functions and other related duties, the company said Dec. 1.

Most recently, Honeyfield was vice president and CFO of Jonah Energy in Denver, and has more than 25 years of energy-related experience, including background in accounting, finance, treasury and capital markets.

Honeyfield previously worked for six years at Intrepid Potash, with a final role there as president and CFO. Prior to that, he was CFO of SM Energy Co. (NYSE: SM) and held other leadership roles there; he also was controller and chief accounting officer at Cimarex Energy/Key Production Co., and was senior audit manager at Arthur Andersen, handling oil and gas E&P, manufacturing and mining sectors.

Honeyfield earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and is a certified public accountant.
