Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Tullow Oil Plc, based in London, is preparing to drill an offshore Namibia well in Block PEL 37 in the Walvis Basin at #1-Cormorant. According to Tullow, the prospect is one in a series of extensive base-of-slope turbidite fan prospects with significant combined resource potential. The fans directly overlie a mature oil-prone source rock of Aptian age that was recently proven by nearby wells. The 3-D seismic surveys over the block indicate that it has the potential of about 124 MMbbl in recoverable oil. The other prospects in the basin are estimated to contain as much as 915 MMbbl. The venture will be drilled in about 545 m of water. Tullow is the operator of PEL37 and #1-Cormorant with 35% interest in partnership with Pancontinental, 20%; Oil and Natural Gas Corp., 30%; Africa Energy, 10%; and Paragon Oil & Gas with the remaining 5%.
