Description

Fort Branch, Ind.-based Nichols Operating LLC is drilling at a deep Trenton wildcat in Wayne County, Ill. The #1-10 Vaught is a wildcat and is permitted to 7,250 ft. The Illinois Basin venture is in Section 10-3s-9e. A successful completion would extend Albion Consolidated Field. Three tests have been drilled in Section 10, including an offsetting wildcat drilled in 1979 at #1 Charles Smith, which was abandoned at 3,444 ft in McClosky Lime. The other two tests in Section 10 were drilled to 3,436 ft and 3,409 ft. Albion Consolidated Field is a large reservoir that covers parts of Edwards County and White County. The deepest wells in the field produce crude from Ullin (Mississippian) at around 4,000 ft and most of the field’s production comes from Aux Vases at around 3,045 ft and McClosky Lime at around 3,200 ft and Aux Vases at around 3,045 ft and McClosky Lime at around 3,200 ft.
