Description
A 7,250-ft Illinois Basin wildcat has been staked by Nichols Operating LLC in Wayne County, Ill. The Trenton oil venture, #1-10 Vaught, will be in Section 10-3s-9e. A successful completion could be placed in Albion Consolidated Field. Three previous tests have been drilled in Section 10, including an offsetting wildcat drilled in 1979 at #1 Charles Smith, which was abandoned at 3,444 ft in McClosky Lime. The other two Section 10 tests were drilled to 3,436 ft and 3,409 ft. The deep wildcat is in the Goldengate Consolidated and Goldengate East field areas, and the wells in the reservoirs produce crude from a range of Mississippian pays. Nichol is based in Fort Branch, Ind.
