Houston-based Walter Oil & Gas Corp. announced details from a second Miocene well at the company’s Coelacanth project in Ewing Bank Block 834. The #2-A OCS G33140 was tested producing 4.998 Mbbl of crude and 4.558 MMcf of gas per day from a Miocene zone at 22,326-22,480 ft and 22,630-22,740 ft. It was drilled to 23,400 ft, 21,078 ft true vertical, and bottomed to the northwest beneath Block 790. Area water depth is 1,200 ft. In 2016, Walter permitted several more tests to be drilled from the A platform, which would bottom in Ewing Bank Block 789 (OCS G35805) and Mississippi Canyon Block 793 (OCS G33177).
